ONEONTA SELECTED TO WIN SIXTH STRAIGHT CONFERENCE TITLE
FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Oneonta women's soccer team has been picked by the
SUNYAC coaches to win the 2004 SUNYAC Championship for the sixth consecutive
year, receiving ten first-place votes and 120 total points. Oneonta finished
last season 9-0-1 in the conference and 21-1-3 overall. The Red Dragons were
the 2003 SUNYAC Champions, New York Regional Champions and NCAA Division III
National Champions.
Geneseo was voted second with 105 points and one first-place vote. The Knights
had the same conference record as Oneonta, 9-0-1, with an overall record of
13-4-4. Geneseo lost to Oneonta in the conference championship 2-0.
Plattsburgh took third in the poll, receiving 96 points. The Cardinals were
7-3-0 in the 2003 campaign and conference semifinalists losing toGeneseo 3-2
in overtime.
Brockport was fourth with 84 points. They ended the 2003 year 6-4-0 in the
conference and 12-6-1 overall.
The conference season starts Wednesday, September 15.
