Oneonta Women’s Soccer Captures Fifth Straight SUNYAC Title
ONEONTA, N.Y. – Oneonta continued
its reign as SUNYAC Champion Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over
Geneseo. With the victory, the Red Dragons captured their fifth title in a row
and extended their unbeaten streak against SUNYAC opposition to 60 games.
Oneonta forward Brooke Davis
(Grand Gorge/Stamford) opened the scoring with 26:42 gone in the first half
when she tucked the ball into an open net following a Geneseo miscue. Oneonta’s
lead grew to two when Patricia DiMichele’s (Centereach/Centereach) 25-yard shot found the goal with
just one second remaining in the half. Oneonta continued to pressure the Blue
Knights in the second half but were unable to find the net. The Red Dragons
finished the game with a 19-5 advantage in shots on goal.
Tricia Jaeger (Baldwin/Baldwin)
was named SUNYAC Tournament Most Valuable Player for her play in the back for
the Red Dragons, who receive an automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
