October 28, 2002
Allison Nelson (East Northport/John Glenn) of Plattsburgh
was selected as Women's Player of the Week. Nelson scored twice on
direct kicks, including the game-winner, and added one assist against
Russell Sage as the Cardinals went on to win 9-0. The sophomore defender
also set-up the game winner against Potsdam as Plattsburgh went to
defeat the Bears 2-1. Plattsburgh is 13-4, 7-3 on the season and earned
the fourth seed in the SUNYAC tournament.
October 21, 2002
Jen Crook (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) of Cortland was
selected as Women's Player of the Week. Crook contributed both offensively
and defensively for Cortland this past week. The senior scored her
first goals of the season from the sweeper position as the Red Dragons
defeated SUNY Fredonia 4-0 and Buffalo State 5-0. She also led a Cortland
defense that allowed just six shots on goal and helped to ensure the
two shutouts. Cortland is tied for second place in the conference
with a record of 8-5-1, 7-2 SUNYAC.
October 14, 2002
Amanda LaPolla (New Hartford/New Hartford) of Oneonta
was selected as Women's Player of the Week. LaPolla scored three goals
this past week as Oneonta defeated Hartwick, Cortland and Oswego to
improve their record to 15-1, 9-0 SUNYAC. Two of her goals were game
winners, including her goal against Oswego, which gave the Red Dragons
their 45th straight SUNYAC win and clinched their fourth straight
regular season title. The junior forward ranks fourth on the team
in scoring with 12 points.
October 7, 2002
Michelle Rider (Newfane/Newfane) of Brockport was selected
as Women's Player of the Week. Rider scored the game-winning goal
in overtime to lead Brockport to a 4-3 OT win against Cortland, making
it only the second time in 14 years that the Golden Eagles have defeated
Cortland. She also added an assist in a 4-1 win over Oswego. On the
season, the junior midfielder ranks fourth on the team with three
goals and four assists for ten points. Brockport is currently second
in conference standings with a record of 9-3, 5-1.

Oneonta's Laura Morcone (Mechanicville/Mechanicville)
claims Player of the Week honors for the women as she continues to
dominate in goal for the Red Dragons as they defeated SUNYAC opponents
Brockport, Geneseo and SUNYIT this past week. The freshman allowed
zero goals in 225 minutes of play and also scored one goal as a field
player against SUNYIT. She currently leads the conference with a .29
GAA. Oneonta extends their winning streak to 41 games in SUNYAC play
and improves their record to 10-1, 5-0 SUNYAC.
September 23, 2002
Oswego's Alecia Scorsone (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) was
named SUNYAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for period ending Sept.
22, 2002. She made 11 saves in an overtime win against regionally-ranked
and previously unbeaten Ithaca College. The junior goalkeeper also
recorded a shutout against SUNYIT as the Laker's won 8-0. On the season,
Scorsone has a 2.26 GAA and a .758 saves percentage.
September 16, 2002
New Paltz's Maggie Fenton (East Meadow/East Meadow)
recorded three shutouts this past week as the Hawk's recorded wins
over Farmingdale, Russell Sage and St. Joseph's (NY). Fenton has not
given up a goal in her last 335 minutes of action and is currently
ranked sixth in the conference with a GAA of 1.57. New Paltz is currently
3-4.

Plattsburgh's Gena Rosenbaum (Morrisonville, NY/Seton
Catholic) was chosen as the SUNAYC Women's Soccer Player of the
Week for her contributing efforts to the team's current undefeated
record. Rosenbaum, a freshman forward, scored twice in both of the
team's games, leading Plattsburgh to a 5-0 win over Norwich and a
9-1 win over Castleton State. She is the current SUNYAC scoring leader
with 11 points on the season.
