GENESEO'S AIMEE CANALE NAMED WOMEN'S SOCCER
COACH OF THE YEAR

FREDONIA, NY - Geneseo's Aimee Canale was named Women's Soccer Coach of the Year at the annual coaches' meeting in Syracuse yesterday.

The award is voted on by the conference coaches and given out annually at the conclusion of the SUNYAC Soccer Championships.

Canale guided the Lady Knights to this year's championship game, where her squad played Oneonta to a 0-0 tie through regulation and two overtime periods before losing 4-2 in the penalty kick round. Her squad completed the regular season 11-4-4 and 7-2-1 in the SUNYAC giving Canale a current 44-28-10 record at Geneseo in this her fourth season. Geneseo is ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA/adidas regional poll. The Lady Knights (13-5-4) continue their post-season play as the #4 seed in the ECAC Division III Northeast Championship. They will host the fifth-seeded Rensselaer Red Hawks (12-4-1) in the first round on Wednesday.
