CORTLAND WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT SUNYAC WOMEN’S LACROSSE TITLE

CORTLAND, NY – Junior Michelle Michaels (Syracuse/West Genesee) scored three goals and added an assist, while senior Lindsay Maynard (Nashua, NH/Nashua) contributed two goals and three assists as Cortland defeated Oneonta 15-7 Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women’s Lacrosse Tournament. Sarah Andrews (Tompkins Cove/N. Rockland) led Oneonta in scoring with three goals.

Freshman goalie Regina Grosso (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) stopped six shots for Cortland and earned tournament MVP honors.

With the win, the nationally-ranked Red Dragons (14-4) have won their fifth straight conference crown and receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III tournament.
