Cortland Defends Women's Lacrosse SUNYAC Crown

The Red Dragon's receive automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament

FREDONIA, NY – The Cortland State Red Dragons have captured their fourth State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship after defeating Oswego 15-2 yesterday in the SUNYAC finals.

Yesterday's championship win gives Cortland their third consecutive title and their fourth in the five year's of conference play. The Red Dragon's reached the finals by defeating fourth seed Geneseo 11-6 on Friday. Second seed Oswego edged out third seed Brockport by a score of 8-7 to reach the championship game.

The conference coaches voted Cortland junior Brooke VandeWalker SUNYAC Player of the Year and Brockport's Tony Zostant received Coach of the Year honors.

Cortland received an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III tournament with yesterday's SUNYAC championship win.
