PICKED TO WIN SUNYAC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The SUNY Cortland Red Dragons women's basketball team enters the 2001-02 season favored to win the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship according to the pre-season coaches poll. They are seeking to capture their third title in four years. Cortland, who received 117 points and eight first place votes, shared the best league record with Oneonta last year at 19-1. Geneseo, who is picked to finish second in the coaches poll with 103 points, was 15-5 in SUNYAC play and had sole possession of second place in the final regular season standings. The Knights lost to Cortland in the semifinals of the 2000-01 conference tournament. Oneonta is looking to defend their SUNYAC championship and capture their third title in five years. The Red Dragons captured the remaining three first-place votes and were picked to finish third in the conference with 98 points. Oneonta defeated Cortland in the final game of the SUNYAC tournament, 68-63. Dr.
