SUNYAC Announces Women’s Basketball All-Conference Basketball Teams
Brockport’s Kristen Clark and Oswego’s Nicole Ferguson earn individual honors
FREDONIA, NY — The Commissioner of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), Patrick R. Damore, has announced the Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams as well as the Player of the Year and First Year Player of the Year for the 2001-02 season.
Kristen Clark (Hilton/Hilton) a junior for the Brockport Golden Eagles, has been named the SUNYAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year for the 2001-02 season. The two-time SUNYAC Player of the Week led the SUNYAC in scoring with 275 points (18.3 ppg) and shot 52 percent from the field. The 5-11 forward also averaged 7.7 rebounds per-game and sank 75 percent of her free-throw attempts (67-88).
Oswego’s Nicole Ferguson (Syracuse/Nottingham) was chosen as the SUNYAC First Year Player of the Year. The 5-11 junior, led the league in rebounds with 149 (9.3 rpg). A center for the Lakers, Ferguson averaged 12.8 points per-game during the conference season, shooting 49 percent from the field. Ferguson has been selected as a Second Team All-SUNYAC performer.
