SUNYAC Announces Women's All-Conference Basketball Teams
FREDONIA, NY – The Commissioner of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), Patrick R. Damore, has announced the All-SUNYAC Women's Basketball Teams as well as the conference's Player of the Year and First Year Player of the Year for the 2000-01 season.
Paula Polce (Trumansburgh/Charles O. Dickerson) a senior forward for the Oneonta Red Dragons, has been named the SUNYAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year for the 2000-01 season. The two-time SUNYAC Player of the Week led the SUNYAC in scoring with 454 points (18.9 ppg). She also averaged 6.9 rebounds per-game and had 54 assists and 51 steals on the season. From the line Polce shot 74.2% sinking 69 out of 93 attempts.
New Paltz's Britni Bishop (Staten Island/St. Peters), was chosen as the SUNYAC First Year Player of the Year. Bishop, a 5-4 freshman guard, was fifth in SUNYAC scoring averaging 13.5 points per-game during the regular season, shooting 35.9% from outside the arc. She also ranked second in assists averaging 4.4 per-game. Bishop was a SUNYAC Player of the Week honoree earlier in the season and has been selected to the Honorable Mention All-SUNYAC team.
