Whitney Smith (Webster/Webster-Thomas), Brockport junior guard
Brockport junior guard Whitney Smith was named the Women's Basketball Tournament MVP for her performance in this past weekend's games in Cortland. On Friday night, Smith scored two last minute free throw shots to help clinch the semifinal win over Oneonta. She scored a total game high of 18 points. On Saturday afternoon, she scored a game high 23 points to help the Golden Eagles to a 57-51 victory in the finals over Potsdam. Brockport will face Mt. St. Mary's of NY on Friday in Brandeis, Mass. in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

February 23
Artie Williams (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy), New Paltz sophomore guard/forward
Last week Williams averaged 17.7 points and 10.3 rebounds while shooting 63.6 % from the field as the Hawks went 2 and 1 on the week. In Friday's game against Potsdam, Artie had 18 rebounds (11 offensive rebounds), as well as, a game-high 22 points. Williams also tallied 18 points in Saturday's win over Plattsburgh. New Paltz now secures second place in the SUNYAC Tournament and will host Potsdam Tuesday night.

February 16
Cortney Poirier (Moira /Brushton-Moira), Potsdam junior guard
Poirier recently completed the best week of her college career as she averaged 24.3 points in three conference contests including a career high 35 points in the Bears 68-64 win over Geneseo. Shooting an impressive 65% from the field (26 of 40) and an amazing 100 % from the charity line (14 of 14), the Potsdam junior also averaged 4.6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists on the week.

February 9
Jessica Laing (Bloomville/South Kortright), Cortland junior forward
For the fourth time during this season, Jessica Laing has been named the SUNYAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Last week Laing averaged 21.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals as the top-ranked Red Dragons went 2 and 1 on the week. Already second place in Cortland school history for rebounding, the junior forward now becomes the Red Dragon's second highest career scorer with 1427 points.

January 5
Brenlyn Campbell (Williamsville/Lewiston-Port), Brockport senior forward
Campbell scored her 1,000th career point in the Golden Eagles 67-61 win over SUNY New Paltz on Saturday. During a grueling week playing the conference's top three teams, Campbell averaged 21 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks while shooting 49% from the field and 70% at the charity line.

January 26
Jessica Laing (Bloomville/South Kortright), Cortland junior forward
Laing went double-double in both of last week's games to extend her season record to 13 double-doubles out of 15 games played. With 802 career rebounds, she now moves into second place in Cortland school history. For the week Laing averaged 19 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3 steals as the Red Dragons defeated Albany Pharmacy 74-46 and Fredonia 69-37.

January 19
Maggie Farrell (Hillsdale/Immaculate), New Paltz junior guard
Farrell scored a career high 23 points vs. Plattsburgh in a 72-65 loss. She averaged 18 points per game on a 1-1 weekend for New Paltz. She also made 13 of 17 attempted free throws, going 76.5% from the line.

January 12
Jessica Laing (Bloomville/South Kortright), Cortland junior forward
Cortland went 3-0 this past week with Laing averaging 16.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, and .3 blocks per game. She made all of her attempted free throws and scored a career high five three pointers versus Geneseo. Laing now has nine double-doubles in eleven games.

January 5
Brenlyn Campbell (Williamsville/Lewiston-Port), Brockport senior forward
Campbell averaged eighteen points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal and shot 75% from the free throw line over two games at the New York University Tournament. She was named to the All-Tournament team.

December 15
Jessica Laing (Bloomville/South Kortright), Cortland junior forward
In a 71-64 loss to William Smith, Laing scored her seventh double-double in eight games this season. She had 27 points, shooting 9/17 from the field and 9/10 from the free throw line. Laing also had thirteen rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.

December 8
Taylor Amarando (Niskayuna/Colonie), Plattsburgh sophomore forward
Over three games, Amarando averaged 20.7 points, nine rebounds, one assist, 1.67 steals, and .67 blocks. She had a double-double against Geneseo (25 pts., 10 reb.), and had two games where she broke the 20 point mark. Amarando led the team in scoring over the weekend.

December 1
Merissa Gaeta (Kirkwood/Windsor), Fredonia junior forward
Gaeta scored a career high 27 points in an 82-77 win over Penn State Behrend. Over the two games this week, she averaged 20.5 points, shot 56.2% from the field, averaged eight rebounds, 2.5 assits, and also had three steals and three blocks.

November 24
Artie Williams (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy), New Paltz sophomore guard/forward
Williams scored 36 points, a career game high, versus William Smith in the championship game of the SUNY New Paltz Tip-off Tournament. Williams' was named the tournament MVP. In her first game of the season, Williams also grabbed 19 rebounds and a career high seven steals.

November 17
Angela Pucciarelli (Fredonia/Fredonia), Fredonia senior forward
Pucciarelli had a career high 22 point in a close 50-49 win over Cobleskill. She also grabbed 12 rebounds and two steals. She shot 47.4% from the field, 60% from the arc, and 50% from the free throw line.
