March 3
Ashley Broadhurst (Sauquoit/Utica-Notre Dame), Brockport senior guard
Broadhurst was named the MVP of the SUNYAC Tournament. She scored 70 points in three games, including 23 in the final.

February 25
Jen Vergis (Rome/Rome Free Academy), SUNYIT senior guard
Vergis tallied 65 points and 41 rebounds as she played an unusual four-game week. She averaged 16.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, five assists and three steals while shooting 42 percent from the floor as SUNYIT went 2-2 on the week.

Vergis missed a triple-double on Monday by two assists in an 82-52 win over Cazenovia while collecting a team-high 19 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and five steals. On Wednesday, she recorded 17 points, a team-high 12 boards and game-highs of five assists and three blocks in an 82-72 overtime setback to Oswego.

On Friday, Vergis followed with a 13-point, 11-board, five-assist, two-steal effort in a loss to Potsdam. She closed her playing career on Saturday with 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals in a 61-56 win over Plattsburgh in which the Wildcats overcame a 19-point first-half deficit.

February 18
Cortney Poirier (Moira/Brushton-Moira), Potsdam sophomore guard
During the week, Poirier led the conference in scoring, finishing with 48 points in two games (24 points per game). She also led in steals, averaging five per game. Poirier shot 53.1 percent (17 of 32) from the field as SUNYAC's second most accurate shooter on the week.

With a season average of 3.95 steals per game, Poirier currently leads the conference. Her 16.7 points-per-game scoring average is the league's fourth highest.

February 11
Kim Schon (Lockport/Lockport), Brockport senior forward
Schon eclipsed the 1,000-point career plateau in the Golden Eagles' 57-22 win over Morrisville on Friday to become the eighth women to score 1,000 points in Brockport school history. She also had a double-double with 21 points and a game-high 16 rebounds in Brockport's 84-76 win over Cortland on Tuesday.

During the 3-game week, Schon averaged 15.7 points and 11.7 rebounds while shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 67 percent from the charity line. On the season, the senior is averaging 12.2 points per game and 8.5 rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

February 4
Nicole Sarcone (Staten Island/Notre Dame Academy), New Paltz sophomore guard
Sarcone powered her team to a 3-win week including two key SUNYAC victories over Potsdam (74-56) and Plattsburgh (58-44). She played the game of her career during the Hawks' 82-67 win over Hartwick on Tuesday, finishing with career-highs in points (14), assists (10) and steals (6). Sarcone finished the week with 31 points, 19 assists, 11 steals and nine rebounds.

January 28
Annie Verdino (Somers/New Hyde Park), Geneseo senior forward
Verdino led the Knights in back-to-back conference comeback victories during the past weekend as Geneseo defeated Plattsburgh, 57-53, and Potsdam, 69-67. She was responsible for sending both games into overtime, firing a three-pointer with seven seconds left against Plattsburgh and then making a jumper with six ticks left versus Potsdam. She also had the game-winning free throw against Potsdam.

Verdino tied a school record with 16 free throws made and set a new school record with 22 free throws attempted. She finished the two-game week averaging 25 points and eight rebounds while shooting 48.3 percent (14 of 29) from the field and 76.9 percent (20 of 26) from the free-throw line.

January 21
Ashley Broadhurst (Sauquoit/Utica-Notre Dame), Brockport senior guard
Broadhurst averaged 22.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists to lead the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 week against conference opponents. She registered a game-high 27 points and a team-high seven rebounds in Brockport's win over Morrisville, including 21 first-half points. She now leads her team in scoring, averaging 17.9 points per game.

January 14
Casey Clark (Athens/Coxsackie-Athens), Plattsburgh sophomore forward
Clark averaged a double-double on the week with 15.5 points and 10 rebounds as she led Plattsburgh to road wins over Fredonia (59-54 on Jan. 11) and Buffalo State (63-55 on Jan. 12). She Clark shot 68.5 percent (13 of 19) from the charity line and 45 percent (9 of 20) from the field. She now has 100 rebounds on the season and leads her, averaging 9.1 boards per game. The Cardinals are now 3-1 in conference play and 5-6 overall.

January 7
Ashley Broadhurst (Sauquoit/Utica-Notre Dame), Brockport senior guard
Broadhurst tied her career-high as she scored 25 points in the Juniata Tournament championship game on Jan. 5. She was named the Tournament MVP, finishing with 49 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and six steals.

December 17
Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North), Fredonia senior forward
Kindzia had back-to-back double-doubles last week as she led the Blue Devils in a 52-37 win over Hilbert on Dec. 12 and their 69-46 victory against Penn St. Behrend. She averaged 18 points and 14 rebounds and finished with six blocks, four assists and four steals.

December 10
Annmarie Spaulding (Corning/Corning C.C.), SUNYIT senior guard
Spaulding recorded a career-high 25 points on Dec. 8 to help SUNYIT record a 65-53 win over Fredonia. She shot 9-of-16 from the floor against the Blue Devils after adding 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting earlier in the week in a 91-32 blowout win at Paul Smith's. Spaulding finished the week averaging 18 points per game as she shot 61 percent from the field.

Spaulding was also 6 of 9 (67 percent) from the charity line and tallied three rebounds, two assists and two steals during the week.

December 3
Jessica Laing (Bloomville/South Kortright), Cortland sophomore forward

Laing averaged 24 points in Cortland's two wins last week and recorded a double-double (26 points and 12 rebounds) during the Red Dragons' 63-48 win over Nazareth. She also averaged nine rebounds, shot 80 percent (12 of 15) from the charity line and 52 percent (17 of 33) from the field. She also had two steals, two blocks and one assist.

November 26
Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North), Fredonia senior forward
Kindzia joined the Blue Devils' 1,000 career points club as she scored 17 points during Fredonia's 64-54 victory over D'Youville on Nov. 20. She is now the sixth Fredonia woman since 1984 to score 1,000 points. Kindzia also pulled down 10 rebounds while adding four assists, six steals and four blocks.

November 19
Jessica Laing (Bloomville/South Kortright), Cortland sophomore forward
Named the MVP at the Dickinson College Tournament, Laing set tournament records with her two-day totals of 52 points and 28 rebounds. She scored a career-high 32 points in Cortland's opening-round win (80-58) over Shenandoah University on Nov. 17. Laing recorded 14 points and 12 rebounds in the first half alone before finishing with 20 points and 15 boards in the Red Dragons' Sunday win (75-44) over Div. II Chestnut Hill in the tournament finals.

Laing, the 2006-07 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, shot 77.8 percent (14 of 18) from the charity line and 60 percent (18 of 30) from the field during the weekend. She also had two assists, one steal and one block.
