February 19
The State University York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Brockport sophomore forward Brenlyn Campbell (Williamsville/Lewsiton-Porter) and Cortland junior forward Sara Cavanaugh (Hastings-on-Hudson/Hastings) as its Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week.
With 18 points and 9 rebounds, Campbell's team-high stats led the Golden Eagles to a 55-52 upset victory over top-ranked Cortland on Friday. Shooting 89% from the charity line (17-19) last week, Campbell's three game tally consisted of 39 points, 20 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 blocks. Brockport now finishes in second place in the SUNYAC after defeating SUNYIT 80-57 on Tuesday and losing 55-61 to Geneseo on Saturday.
Making her fourth appearance as a Player of the Week, Cavanaugh finished the week with 44 points, 21 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 blocks. With strong outside shooting she hit 9 of 13 from beyond the arc. Besides the loss to Brockport, the Red Dragons enjoyed a 67-53 win over Potsdam and a 72-49 victory against Fredonia. Cortland now finishes with its third SUNYAC regular-season title in the last four years.

February 12
Annie Verdino (Yorktown Heights, NY/New Hyde Park) has been named the Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).
Verdino finished last week's three game slate with a total of 66 points and 30 rebounds. She connected on almost 42% of her shots from the field (20-48) and hit 84% from the charity line (21-25) while also adding 6 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks on the week. Her career total now stands at 923 points in just under two seasons of college basketball. The Geneseo women finished the week 2-1 after defeating Oswego 82-72 on Tuesday and dropping Plattsburgh 76-70 on Friday. Despite Verdino's 30 point game high, the Knights suffered a 78-85 loss to Potsdam on Saturday. Geneseo (13-10) is currently ranked fifth in the SUNYAC with an 8-6-conference tally.

February 5
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Ashley Broadhurst (Sauquoit, NY/Utica-Notre Dame) as their Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Broadhurst scored her 1000th career point last week as she averaged 20.3 points and 4 rebounds during the Golden Eagles three conference wins. Shooting 50% (18-36) from the field, including 7 of 15 from three-point-land, Broadhurst finished the week with 61 points. The junior guard also tallied 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Brockport enjoyed a 68-66 win at Geneseo on Tuesday and a 69-53 victory at Fredonia on Friday before defeating Oswego 61-45 in Saturday's home contest. Broadhurst, who currently averages 13.0 points and 4.95 assists per game, advanced her career tally to 1035 points by week's end. She is only the seventh player in school history to reach this scoring milestone.

January 29
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has again selected Cortland junior forward Sara Cavanaugh (Hastings-on-the-Hudson, NY/Hastings) as its Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Cavanaugh is now making her third appearance as an 2006-07 Player of the Week. Cavanaugh averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last week as she led the Red Dragons to two conference wins. She connected on an impressive 65% from the field while totaling 41 points, 15 rebounds, 3 blocks, 3 assists and 1 steal on the week. Shooting 70% (7-10) from the field in Friday's 60-58 win over Oswego, Cavanaugh also went 3-4 from beyond the arc and 8-9 from the charity stripe to score a game high 23 points. The Red Dragons defeated Brockport 63-60 on Tuesday. Cortland (15-1, 8-0 SUNYAC) has won 15 games straight on its way to becoming the conference's top ranked team.

January 22
Cortland junior forward Sara Cavanaugh (Hastings-on-the-Hudson, NY/Hastings) is making her second appearance this season as Women's Basketball Player of the Week for The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). Cavanaugh powered her team with 30 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 6 blocks as the Red Dragons picked up a 77-72 overtime victory over Geneseo. She also tied a school record with 8 three-pointers in that conference win on Friday. On Saturday, Cavanaugh scored 20 points and added 8 boards as Cortland defeated Oswego 65 -59 for their 13th consecutive win (13-1 overall, 7-0 SUNYAC). On the week, Cavanaugh averaged 25 points per game while shooting almost 50% from the field (19-37). She connected on 8 of 19 from beyond the arc and remained perfect at the charity line (6-6). Her weekly stats total includes 50 points, 14 rebounds, 5 steals and 9 blocks.

January 15
Katie Marcella (Schenectady, NY/ Guilderland) has been named the Women's Basketball Player of the Week by The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). Marcella led Brockport to its first ever Chase Tournament Championship game when she scored 25 points while adding 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals as the Golden Eagles took Rochester into double-overtime. Rochester, ranked third in the nation, finally prevailed 78-75 as Marcella was named a First Team All-Tournament Player. During the week's three contests Marcella shot 47% (17-36) from the field and aced her free-throws (4-4) as she tallied 45 points, 24 rebounds, 11 assists, 12 steals and 4 blocks. Brockport finished 2-1 on the week as they defeated Roberts Wesleyan 58-37 and St. John Fisher 68-50 in route to the Chase Championship.

January 8
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland freshman forward Jessica Laing (Bloomville, NY/South Kortright) as its Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 7.Laing averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds in Cortland's two non-conference wins last week. The Red Dragons defeated Elmira 71-70 on Friday before downing Keuka 51-42 on Saturday. Shooting 66% (4-6) from the charity line and 48% (11-23) from the field, Laing finished the week with 26 points, 21 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 4 blocks.Laing now has eight "double-doubles" as Cortland advances to 9-1 on the season. The Red Dragons currently have a nine game winning streak going, as well as, a home court winning streak of 29 games.

December 10
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland junior forward Sara Cavanaugh (Hastings-on-the-Hudson, NY/Hastings) as its Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 10.Cavanaugh averaged 21.5 points per game last week as she powered the Red Dragons to two wins. She shot 57% from the field while totaling 43 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 blocks and 2 assists on the week.Cavanaugh made a career-high six three-pointers (6-9) in Friday's 83-60 win over Nazareth. Cortland also defeated Ithaca 61-56 on Tuesday. Having won the past seven straight games, the Red Dragons are now 7-1 on the season.

December 3
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland freshman forward Jessica Laing (Bloomville, NY/South Kortright) as its Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 3. Shooting 68% from the field (21-31), including 5-8 from beyond the arch, Laing averaged 20 points and 10.3 boards on the week. Laing opened her college career with a streak of five straight double-doubles that ended in Saturday's game with Clarkson when she fell two rebounds short.During her 3 game week, Laing totaled 60 points and 31 rebounds while also adding 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks. Cortland, now 5-1 overall, also picked up 3 more victories to bring their current winning streak to 5. The Red Dragons defeated Oneonta 70-62, SUNYIT 80-37 and Clarkson 77-38.

November 27
Fredonia senior guard Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) has been named the SUNYAC women's basketball player of the week, for the week ending November 26.Baker shot 77.7 % from the field (14-18) as she averaged 18 points during the Blue Devils two games last week. Baker also connected on 80% of her three-pointers (4-5) and also her free-throws (4-5). In addition to her two game tally of 36 points and 7 rebounds, Baker added 15 assists, 6 steals and 1 block.With 21 points on the evening, Baker led all scorers as they played Penn State Behrend on Saturday. She also added a career-high 9 assists on Saturday and currently leads her team with 22 assists on the season. The Blue Devils downed D’Youville 68-64 on Tuesday before slipping 66-78 in overtime to
Behrend.

November 20
Fredonia junior Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) has been named the SUNYAC women's basketball player of the week, for the week ending November 19.Kindzia scored 39 points and added 19 rebounds as she led her team to a perfect opening weekend double-header. Named the Penn State Behrend Tournament MVP, Kindzia shot almost 60% (19-32) from the field while also contributing 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks on the weekend. The Blue Devils downed Marietta 55-45 before defeating host Penn State Behrend by a score of 55-45 for the tournament title.
