BROCKPORT AND CORTLAND ADVANCE TO
SUNYAC WOMEN’S BAKSETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Women’s SUNYAC Tournament Final – 1:00 p.m.at the Utica Memorial Auditorium

                                                                                               

UTICA, NY – Brockport and Cortland advance to tomorrow’s State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women’s basketball game after winning their respective semifinal games held this afternoon at the Utica Memorial Auditorium in Utica, NY.

 

In today’s first semifinal game, third-seeded Brockport defeated No. 2 Buffalo State 50-36 to advance to tomorrow’s championship game.  Brockport’s Colleen Tabor (Ballston Lake/Shenendehowa) led all scorers with 17 points.  Freshmen Dionne Turnage (Buffalo/Traditional) and Desiree Gibson (Rochester/Edison Tech) both had 11 points in the losing effort for Buffalo State.  The Bengals finish their season 18-9.  Brockport improves to
20-7 and will face Cortland tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. 

 

In the second semifinal game, No. 4 Cortland defeated eighth seed Fredonia 56-45.  Kaylin VanDusen (Schuyler/West Canada Valley) scored a career-high 27 points for Cortland to lead all scorers.  The Red Dragons improve to 16-11 and advance to the SUNYAC Finals for the fifth straight year.  Fredonia falls to 11-16.
