Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Kellie Winters, Oswego State
The senior from Batavia, New York was named the most valuable swimmer and Grace Mowat Award winner as top senior at the SUNYAC Championships. Winters finished first in three individual events in addition to being part of four winning relay teams. In all seven events she set Oswego State record,s with six of them also establishing new SUNYAC and SUNYAC Championship Meet records. She repeated as the champion in the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 24.21 seconds setting the records in the preliminary rounds with a time of 24.05. In the 100 free, Winters defended her crown from last year with a winning time of 52.97. Again she set the records in the preliminary heats with a clocking of 52.85. She won her this individual event in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.22. She broke the school record in an earlier heat with a time of 1:58.12. In the relay events, she was part of the winning 200 free (1:37.02), 400 free (3:35.01), the 200 medley (1:48.15) and the 400 medley (3:57.53) with all of them setting school, conference and meet records. Winters, a two-time All-American, posted NCAA Division III "A" cut times in the 50 free and the 200 free and 200 medley relays. She earned "B" cuts in the 100 free and the in the 400 free and 400 medley relays.

Women’s Diver of the Week

Paula Kaus, Fredonia State
A senior from Dunkirk, New York, Kaus was a double winner in a 114-110 victory Tuesday over Buffalo State-the first Fredonia State women’s home meet since the mid-1970s, when the sport was dropped. She scored 207.45 points off the 3-meter board and 183.10 points off the 1-meter board. She also won the 3-meter competition Friday against Mercyhurst-North East.
