CORTLAND HOSTS
2004 SUNYAC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
18-2 Red Dragons eye second straight title
Joining the Red Dragons will be Buffalo State, Geneseo, Fredonia, Oneonta
and Plattsburgh. The Bengals have earned the second seed with a 16-4 record
and are currently riding a 10-game unbeaten streak. Geneseo and Fredonia finished
tied in the standings at 14-6. The Knights earn the higher number three seed,
however, due to a season sweep of the Blue Devils (5-0, 3-1). Oneonta and
Plattsburgh also finished tied in the league tables at 12-8. The Red Dragons
and Cardinals split their two regular-season contests but Oneonta grabbed
the fifth seed due to a win over top-seeded Cortland.
The tournament begins Thursday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m. and runs through Saturday,
May 1, with the winner of the six-team tournament receiving an automatic berth
into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
