GENESEO TO HOST SUNYAC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

Knights look repeat as conference champs

FREDONIA, NY – The Geneseo Knights look to defend their conference crown as they prepare to host the 2003 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball Championship.

Geneseo earned the No. 1 seed and right to host the tournament after finishing atop the conference standings with a 17-1 record. Their only conference loss of the season came against Cortland, the second seed in this year’s tournament. The Red Dragons finished conference play with a 16-3 record. Also participating in the tournament are Plattsburgh, Brockport, Buffalo State and Oneonta.

The tournament begins Thursday, May 1 and runs through Saturday, May 3, with the winner of the six-team tournament receiving an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
