SUNYAC Announces Award Winners in Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track and
Field
Krueger and Wilbourn Named Coaches of the
Year
Oneonta’s Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo/Buffalo Seminary) has been named the Outstanding Female Track Athletes. Jackson-Buckner claimed three individual titles and was part of the victorious 400 meter relay. She defended her titles in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, with times of 12.15 and 24.35 seconds, respectively. Her times of 10.83 and 24.16 in the Friday semi-finals in the 100 and 200 dashes respectively, set meet, facility, and school records while hitting the NCAA automatic standards. Her time in the 200 set the conference record, as well and gave Jackson-Buckner the career sweep in the event, winning the Outdoor SUNYAC Championship for 4 consecutive years. Jackson-Buckner was part of the winning 400 meter relay with a time of 47.78 (NCAA provisional), setting a new conference, meet, facility and school record.
Geneseo
senior Matt Kuenzel
(Saratoga/Saratoga Springs) has been named the Outstanding Male Field
Athlete. Kuenzel helped lead the Knights to their
second outdoor title in school history by placing first in the shot put,
grabbing second in the hammer and javelin throw, and taking third in the
discus. He won the shot put with a NCAA provisional toss of 15.98 meters, threw
the hammer 50.29 meters, launched the javelin 51.95 meters and cleared a distance
of 43.74m in the discus.
Geneseo’s
Ross Hunkovic
(Endwell/Maine-Endwell) has earned the Outstanding Male Track Athlete
award. He led the Blue Knights to a narrow 199.50 victory over second place
Cortlands’s
Shawn Wilbourn
and Brockport’s Mark Krueger were
selected as the SUNYAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coaches of the
Year. Wilbourn, in his second season as head coach,
led the Red Dragons a second place finish. The Red Dragons won three individual
crowns, one relay event and placed second four times and in third place nine
times.
Krueger, in his fourth season as
head coach of the Golden Eagles, earns his second consecutive Female coach of
the year award. He led Brockport to a second place finish at the SUNYAC
Championships with 158 points. Brockport captured two individual crowns, had
six second place finishes, and five third place finishes.
