November 8, 2004
Geneseo's Chris Stock (Penfield, NY/Penfield) is the SUNYAC
Men's Soccer Player of the Week. The senior goalkeeper was named SUNYAC
Tournament MVP after posting a pair of shutouts in goal at the conference
championships as the Knights won their first ever SUNYAC Men's Soccer
title with a 1-0 win over New Paltz in the semifinals and a 1-0 win
over Plattsburgh in the championship. At the pre-tournament awards
dinner on Thursday, Stock was named the SUNYAC Player of the Year
and First Team All-SUNYAC after setting a school record with 11 shutouts
to date.
November 1, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced Brockport's Anthony Jaworski as the SUNYAC Mens
Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 31. Jaworski
netted a hat trick, which included the game-winner, as the Golden
Eagles defeated Keuka College by the score of 4-0 in their lone contest
of the week. The senior leads the team with 11 goals.
October 25, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced Cortland's Matt Daum as the SUNYAC Men's Soccer Player
of the Week for the week ending October 24th.
Daum netted the game-winning goal and added an assist in a victory
over conference opponent Oswego State. Added another goal in a 3-0
victory against the University of Scranton and then scored the team's
lone goal in an overtime loss to Wilkes.
October 18, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced Geneseo's Eric Lauricella as the SUNYAC Mens
Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending October 17th.
Lauricella had a hand in all three goals scored by Geneseo in a pair
of SUNYAC victories. The senior scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win
over Buffalo State and then had one goal and one assist in a 2-1 triumph
over Fredonia.
October 11, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced New Paltz's Greg Foss as the SUNYAC Mens Soccer
Player of the Week for the week ending October 10.
Foss netted a goal in a 3-2 road win at Cortland and then scored a
pair of goals, including the game winner, and added an assist in a
5-1 victory at Oswego State. The Queensbury native leads the Hawks
in scoring this season with six goals and four assists for 16 points.
October 4, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced Plattsburgh's Tim Stanley as the SUNYAC Men's Soccer
Player of the Week for the week ending October 3rd.
Stanley played a key role in helping the Cardinals win both of their
games last week. The junior scored the first goal in a 2-1 win over
RPI and then netted the hat trick in a 3-1 win at Union College. The
forward leads Plattsburgh in scoring with eight goals and one assist.
September 27, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced Geneseo's Chris Stock as the SUNYAC Men's Soccer
Player of the Week for the week ending September 20. Stock earned
a pair of shutouts in as many games for the Blue Knights as he finished
the week with a 1-0-1 record. The Penfield native made one save in
a scoreless tie at SUNYAC opponent Oswego State and then made five
saves in a 1-0 overtime win at Cortland. The two shutouts give the
Geneseo goalie five on the season.
September 20, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced Brockport's Shaun Ernewein as the SUNYAC Men's Soccer
Player of the Week for the week ending September 20th. Ernewein went
2-0-1 in goal for the Golden Eagles with a pair of shutouts. The freshman
started the week making six saves in a 1-0 win over nationally-ranked
Ithaca and then made one save in a 2-0 conference win against Potsdam.
The Albion native finished the week allowing only one goal in 110
minutes as Brockport battled Plattsburgh to a 1-1 overtime tie.
September 13, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Fredonia State's Matt Borchard as the SUNYAC
Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending September 13th.
Borchard helped the Blue Devils win the Fredonia State Days Inn Classic
by allowing only one goal in a pair of games. The keeper was also
named the most valuable player of the tournament. The junior made
four saves in a 2-1 win over Capital and then made nine saves in a
scoreless tie with Houghton. In the Houghton game that saw the Blue
Devils claim the title in a shootout, the goalie made nine saves in
110 minutes of play and then stopped five of six shots during the
shootout.
So far this season, the Williamsville, NY native is 4-1 with three
shutouts.
September 6, 2004
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
announced Brockport's Greg Dini as the SUNYAC Men's Soccer
Player of the Week for the week ending September 5th.
Dini helped the Golden Eagles win the SUNY Brockport Men's Soccer
Invitational as he scored three goals in a pair of wins. He was also
named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the tournament. The
Long Island native had a pair of goals, including the game winner,
in the opening game as the Golden Eagles posted a 4-0 win over Thiel.
The junior then added his second game-winning goal of the weekend
in a 2-0 win over King's College.
