CORTLAND CHOSEN TO WIN THIRD STRAIGHT SUNYAC CHAMPIONSHIP

 

            FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Cortland men’s soccer team has been picked by the SUNYAC coaches to win the 2003 SUNYAC Championship. Cortland received six of ten first-place votes and a total of 92 points. The Red Dragons went 7-2 in conference play last season and claimed their second consecutive title with a 4-2 win over Brockport. Cortland defeated Fredonia 3-0 in the 2001 championship.

            Plattsburgh was selected second with 88 points and two first-place votes. The Cardinals finished 6-3 last season before falling in the semifinals to Cortland.

            Fredonia and Brockport each received one first-place vote and ended up tied for third with 76 points. Brockport finished the 2002 regular season with a perfect 9-0 record. Fredonia ended last season 4-5 in conference play, 10-6-1 overall.

SUNYAC play begins Friday, September 19th.
