Plattsburgh forward Mike Figliola (Mississauga, ONT/Iona Catholic)
earns the men's award for the fourth time this season. The sophomore
scored the Cards' lone goal in a 4-1 loss to nationally-ranked St.
Lawrence and recorded a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Clarkson. Figliola
leads the conference with 24 goals and six assists and is ranked in
the top ten in the nation in goals per game and points per game for
the Cardinals (15-3).

Fredonia sophomore goalkeeper Matt Borchard (Williamsville/Williamsville
South) receives the men's award for his two-win, two-shutout week
for the Blue Devils. Borchard shutout Buffalo State Wednesday to help
his team clinch the 4th seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. Saturday
he stopped six shots in a tough 1-0 road win over RIT. Borchard has
recorded five shutouts in 10 games this season. He leads the conference
with a save percentage of .880 and is tied for second in goals against
average (0.86). Fredonia is 10-4-3 this season and ranked 8th in the
northeast region.

Plattsburgh sophomore forward Mike Figliola (Mississauga, ONT/Iona
Catholic) receives SUNYAC Player of the Week honors for the third
time this season and second week in a row.. Friday, Figliola scored
both goals in a 2-0 win over Geneseo, who was previously unbeaten
in the SUNYAC standings. Saturday, he tallied the game-tying goal
in a 2-1 win over Brockport. With the goal, Figliola tied the Plattsburgh
single-season record for goals in a season (19) set by Bill Garvey
in 1968. Figliola leads the Cardinals and the conference in scoring
with 41 points (19g, 3a). Plattsburgh is 13-2 overall, 8-0 in the
SUNYAC, and ranked 21st nationally in Division III.

Plattsburgh State sophomore forward Mike Figliola (Mississauga,
ONT/Iona Catholic) receives the SUNYAC Men's Soccer Player of
the Week honor for the second time this season. Figliola netted four
goals and recorded one assistin three games as the nationally-ranked
Cardinals posted a 3-1 record for the week. His biggest game came
against Buffalo State as he recorded a hat trick and picked up one
assist. This season, Figliola leads the Cards and the conference in
scoring with 35 points (16g, 3a).
October 6, 2003
Fredonia State sophomore forward Garrett Hauschild (Skaneateles/Skaneateles)
has been chosen as the State University of New York Athletic Conference
(SUNYAC) Player of the Week for all games ending October 5. Hauschild
earned the honor for his play during the Blue Devils' 2-0-1 week.
He netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 5-1
victory over Keuka College on Tuesday. He also added three goals in
a conference win against SUNYIT on Saturday, to finish the week with
five goals in three games. Hauschild leads Fredonia (6-2-3) in scoring
with 12 points (6g, 0a).
September 29, 2003
Brockport junior forward Anthony Jaworski (Long Island/Newfield)
was selected as the Men's Soccer Player of the Week scoring four
goals over the weekend. Jaworski netted a hat-trick in a 4-2 conference
victory over SUNYIT and added the only goal of the game in a 1-0 triumph
over New Paltz. In the win over SUNYIT, he scored his 41st goal to
break the Brockport all-time record. The Golden Eagles are 5-4 overall
and 3-1 in conference play.
September 22, 2003
Plattsburgh sophomore forward Mike Figliola (Mississauga, ONT/Iona
Catholic) was named State University of New York (SUNYAC) men's
soccer Player of the Week for games ending September 21. Figliola
netted five goals in two games last week to earn the honor. He scored
three goals in a 7-0 victory against Johnson State, including the
game-winner. He followed that up with a two-goal performance and the
game-winning goal in a 4-2 win against conference rival New Paltz.
Figliola is currently first in the conference in scoring with 20 points
(10g, 0a).

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Tim Stanley (Newport, VT/North Country Union) as
the Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending September
14. Stanley netted a pair of goals in the team's lone contest last
week as the Cardinals defeated Norwich University by the score of
3-1. Stanley is second on the team in scoring with three goals this
season for the undefeated Cards, who are currently ranked 2nd in the
northeast region and tied for 14th nationally.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced
Ross Morelli (Rochester/Hilton) as the SUNYAC Player of the Week
for the week ending September 7. Morelli posted back-to-back shutouts
against nationally-ranked opponents and was named the most valuable
player of the Cortland Red Dragon Men's Soccer Classic. The sophomore
made four saves against 22nd-ranked RIT in a 1-0 win and then made
three saves in a 1-0 victory over 14th-ranked Ithaca College. Thus
far this season, Morelli has a .50 goals-against-average in 357 minutes
as the Red Dragons have a record of 3-0-1.
