*ECAC Upstate Player of the Week Ventresca tallied 12 points on three goals and nine assists in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles. He assisted on six goals and found the net twice in an 18-1 win over Medaille. Ventresca also keyed Brockport to a 10-9 win over Oswego with a goal and three assists. The freshman attacker is the Golden Eagles leading scorer this spring with 31 points on 14 goals and 17 assists. Goalkeeper of the Week Gaebel helped keep the number two team in Division
III rolling while winning his second Goalkeeper of Week honor
this spring. Gaebel stopped 14-of-27 shots and had an 8.67 goals-against
average. He stopped 10-of-18 shots in a 15-8 win at Geneseo that
helped Cortland (14-1, 6-0) secure the league's regular season
championship. Gaebel is 13-1 in net with a 7.61 goals-against
average and a .585 save percentage this spring. April 25, 2005 Hughes helped second ranked Cortland extend its winning streak to seven with 11 points in a 2-0 week. Hughes tallied a career-high eight goals in a 13-5 non-conference win over Cabrini College. Earlier in the week, he had three goals in a 14-5 win over conference rival Brockport. Hughes leads the SUNYAC in goals per game (2.77) and ranks second in the league in points per game (3.69) for the 12-1 Red Dragons. Goalkeeper of the Week Hanretty turned in a strong week in goal for the
Bears. In a pair of conference games, he recorded 28 saves and
allowed 11 goals. Hanretty stopped .710 percent of the shots on
net and had a 5.50 goals-against average in 123 minutes. He made
10 saves and surrendered just three goals in a 9-3 victory over
Oswego. Hanretty also had 18 saves in an 8-7, overtime loss to
17th ranked Geneseo. Hanretty is third in SUNYAC in saves per
game (12.64). Potsdam is 6-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference. April 18, 2005 Abbott helped lead third ranked Cortland to a pair of conference victories. The junior midfield racked up 10 points, 19 groundballs and won 75 percent of his faceoffs. Abbott had four goals and two assists in a 24-4 win over Oswego. He added four goals in an 18-6 road win over Oneonta. Abbott is second on the Red Dragons in scoring with 30 points (22 goals, 8 assists) and has helped lead Cortland to a 10-1 record. Goalkeeper of the Week Hughes stopped 12-of-19 shots as the Cardinals held
off Oswego, 8-7 to earn their first conference win of the season.
The freshman goalie has played all but eight minutes this season
and ranks a top the conference in save percentage (.594) and saves
per game (15). Plattsburgh is 4-4 overall and 1-2 in SUNYAC play. April 11, 2005 Bazydlo helped Geneseo get off to a 2-0 start in
league play with nine points on five goals and four assists. The
sophomore midfielder scored two goals and assisted on three others
to lead the Blue Knights to a 13-7 win over Oswego. Bazydlo added
three goals and an assist in a 13-6 victory over Plattsburgh.
He is third on Geneseo in scoring with 22 points (14 goals, 8
assists) this spring. Gaebel extended his record to 8-1 in net for the
fourth-ranked Red Dragons with a pair of victories. He had 19
saves, a .576 save percentage and a 8.60 goals against average
last week in 97 minutes of playing time. Gaebel stopped 12 shots
in a hard-fought 14-12 win over non-conference rival Ithaca. He
followed that up with seven saves on nine shots on net in an 18-6
win over Potsdam. Gaebel has an 8.23 goals-against average and
a .562 save percentage this season. April 4, 2005 Schmitt had five goals and an assist in a 16-9 triumph over Cazenovia last Saturday (Apr. 2). Earlier in the week, he found the net three times and had three ground balls in a 14-6 loss to 19th ranked St. Lawrence. Behind Schmitt, the Cardinals raised their record to 3-2 on the year. Goalkeeper of the Week In a 1-1 week for the Bears, Hanretty had a 7.50
goals-against average and a .631 save percentage. He made 15 saves
in a 17-7 win over Keuka last Saturday (Apr. 2). Hanretty's effort
stopped a two-game skid for Bears and improved their record to
