SUNYAC MEN’S LACROSSE PLAYOFFS SET FOR WEDNESDAY

Cortland, Geneseo host semifinal games

FREDONIA, NY - Cortland, Geneseo, Oneonta and Potsdam return to compete in the 2004 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's lacrosse playoffs this Wednesday, May 5. The same four teams participated in last year's playoffs, with Cortland emerging as the champions. The Red Dragons have won four straight titles since men's lacrosse was reinstated as a conference sport in 2000.

In the first game of the day, third-seeded Oneonta travels to Geneseo for a 4:00 p.m. start. The Red Dragons and Knights played in their only meeting of the season two days ago with Geneseo coming out on top 8-5. Last year, in the semifinals, Oneonta was bounced from the playoffs by the Knights by the score of 15-8. In the other semifinal, top-seeded Cortland hosts fourth-seeded Potsdam at 7:00 p.m. The Red Dragons handled the Bears earlier in the year 13-5 and knocked them from the playoffs in 2003 with a 15-9 win.

The highest remaining seed after the semifinals will host the championship game on Saturday, May 8 at 1 p.m. The winner will receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
