Cortland Wins 2001 Men's SUNYAC Lacrosse Championship
The Red Dragons defeat Oneonta 12-9 to secure the number one spot

FREDONIA, NY – The Cortland State Red Dragons have won their second consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Lacrosse Championship since the conference sport was reinstated last season.

Cortland defeated the Red Dragons of Oneonta yesterday by a score of 12-9 to claim the 2001 SUNYAC Championship. Cortland is currently 5-0 in the conference (10-5 overall) with one more SUNYAC contest remaining against Plattsburgh on Saturday, May 5. Regardless of the outcome, they have secured the number one spot in the conference earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

The SUNYAC does not have a post-season tournament for Men's Lacrosse; therefore regular season play is used to determine the SUNYAC champion and receiver of the NCAA automatic bid.
