SUNYAC AnnouncesMen’s Basketball All-Conference Basketball Teams

Brockport’s Medburyand Plattsburgh’s Ostrander Receive Individual Honors

FREDONIA, NYThe Commissioner of the StateUniversity of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), Patrick R.Damore, has announced the SUNYAC Men’s BasketballAll-Conference Teams as well as the Player of the Year and FirstYear Player of the Year for the 2001-02 season.

Winning the SUNYAC Player of the Year honor was Brockport’sMike Medbury (Attica/Attica). TheGolden Eagles’ junior finished the regular season with 263points, averaging 16.4 points per-game and shooting 54percentfrom the field in conference play. Medbury sank 62 of 75 freethrow attempts to lead SUNAYC in free throw percentage (83%). The6’5" forward averaged 3.7 rebounds per game, and isamong the SUNYAC leaders in three-point field goal percentage.

Plattsburgh’s Jordan Ostrander (Burlington,VT/Champlain College) received the First YearPlayer of the Year honor after finishing the 2001-02 conferenceseason tied for fifth in scoring with 273 points (17.1 ppg) andshot 52 percent from the field. He is also among the leaders inrebounding with 6.1 rebounds per game. Ostrander, a forward forthe Cardinal’s, hit 48 percent of his three-point shots(19-40) and is 71 percent from the line (40-56). The6’6" senior received SUNYAC Player of the Week honorsearlier this season and was selected as a First Team All-SUNYACperformer.
