Steve Thomas, Plattsburgh Junior G (Plattsburgh/Plattsburgh)
Thomas was named the tournament MVP for his dominance on the hardwood during the final game. Thomas led both teams with 28 points, going 8-for-15 from the field and 12-for-17 from the free-throw line, and matched teammate Errol Daniyan with 10 rebounds. He averaged just under a double-double for the week (21.0 points, 9.3 rebounds) after playing all but 3 minutes during the week. Thomas led the Cardinals in scoring against New Paltz and Oneonta, and in rebounding against Oneonta, as well.
February 22
Brian Hooks, Oneonta Junior Guard (Cohoes/Shaker)
Hooks led Oneonta to victories in its final two regular season games last week. He averaged 18 points and 1 rebound per game while shooting 71 percent from the field including 64 percent from behind the arc. The Red Dragons reached 20 wins for only the second time in school history and set a single season record for conference wins with 13.
February 16
Chris Ruiz, Plattsburgh Junior Guard (Washington Heights/St. Agnes)
Ruiz hit the 1,000 career point mark against Cortland (currently 1,001 pts.). He reached the milestone on his last basket, a jumper with 3:45 left that tied the game at 61-61. He led the Cardinals in scoring with an average of 23.0 points per game and averaged an impressive 80.0% from both behind the arc (8-10) and the charity stripe (8-10). Ruiz also averaged 6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1 steal and 1.5 blocks per game.
February 8
Harris Wichard, New Paltz Sophomore Guard (Merricik/Bellmore)
Wichard helped the Hawks to wins over Brockport and Cortland, the top two teams in the conference. He averaged 18 points and 7.3 rebounds, while shooting .618% from the field and .588% from behind the arc. Wichard scored a game-high 25 against the Red Dragons and had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against the Golden Eagles.
February 1
Dustin Marshall, Cortland Junior Guard (Newfield/Newfield)
Marshall averaged 18 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game and was Cortland's leading scorer in each of three victories. He scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and recorded five steals in a home overtime win vs. Oneonta Tuesday. He finished with 16 points and seven rebounds in a victory Friday at league leader Brockport. On Saturday, he hit the game-tying shot with less than three seconds left in regulation and finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists in a double-overtime win at Geneseo.
January 25
T.O. Jackson, Buffalo State Sophomore Forward (Bronx/Bronx Regional)
Jackson averaged a double-double on the week, with 13.7 points and 11.7 rebounds, to lead his team to a 2-1 record. He also averaged 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting 51.5% from the field and 85.7% from the line.
January 18
Brian Beckford, Oneonta Senior Forward (Brooklyn/Christ the King)
Beckford led the Red Dragons to a 3-0 week with all wins coming in the SUNYAC. He filled all the stat categories averaging 17.7 points, 8 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3 steals and 4 blocks. He had 21 points and 11 boards in a 76-74 win against Buffalo State. The Red Dragons are off to its best start through 14 games since 1996-97 when they started 11-3.
January 11
Brad Cooper, Fredonia Senior Guard (Monticello/Monticello)
Cooper averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals while shooting 53.9% from the field, 33.3% from behind the arc and 69.2% from the line. In a 23 point performance against Potsdam, Cooper reached the 1,000-point plateau and subsequently surpassed four others into 11th place in Fredonia State's all-time scoring list in men's basketball. He currently has 1,032 career points.
January 4
Brian Beckford, Oneonta Senior Center (Brooklyn/Christ the King)
Beckford was selected as the MVP of the ECAC Holiday Festival played in Orlando. He averaged nearly a double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds and 18 points, 7 rebounds) in helping the Red Dragons go 2-0. He is currently averaging 13 points and 9 rebounds per game.
December 14
Brad Cooper, Fredonia Senior Guard (Monticello/Monticello HS)
Cooper had a 28 point, 5 rebound performance against Worcester State and a 19 point, 6 rebound game against Fisher College. On the week, he averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4 steals...while shooting 64% from the field, 66% from behind the arc and 82% from the line.
December 7
Chris Ruiz, Plattsburgh Junior Guard (Washington Heights/St. Agnes)
Ruiz averaged .590 from the field and an impressive .571 from behind the arc. He helped lead the Cardinals to a 3-0 week with 19.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.67 assists per game. He posted a season-high 34 points on the scoreboard against New Paltz and went 6-for-7 from the three-point line during that same game.
November 30
Shereef Taylor, New Paltz Sophomore Guard (Hyde Park/FDR)
Taylor hit the game-winning three-pointer against Keene State with four seconds remaining in the second overtime. He scored a game-high 27 points and added 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and a game-high 5 steals. He also recorded 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals in a loss to SUNYIT.
November 23
Chad Burridge, Oswego Sophomore Forward (Hannibal/Hannibal)
Burridge led the Lakers in the first week of the season by averaging 22.3 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1.67 blocks per game. The Lakers finished the week 2-1 after a loss to Utica, 82-71, and wins over NJ City University, 69-65, and Medgar Evers, 80-54. Burridge was named the Max Ziel Tournament Most Valuable Player as Oswego State claimed the championship trophy.
November 16
Josh Zenkel, Brockport Senior Guard (Webster/Webster-Thomas)
Zenkel led the Golden Eagles to a season-opening win with a team high 15 points. The senior was 4-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to seal the victory.
