20, 2006 The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected SUNYIT junior guard Chris Reaves (Syracuse) as its Mens Basketball
Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 19. Reaves led the Wildcats to a pair
of weekend road wins. He averaged 23.0 points and 6.7 rebounds as SUNYIT defeated
Fredonia State and Buffalo State on successive days. He also compiled 13 assists
in the two games and connected on 7 of 13 shots from three-point range. It was
second time this season Reaves received the Player of the Week award. He was cited
previously on Dec. 12. Reaves attended Henninger High School.

13, 2006 The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected Potsdam senior guard Edane Barton (Spring Valley) as its Mens
Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 12. Barton averaged 24.6
points and 9.3 rebounds in three conference wins by the Bears. He scored 28 points
in an 85-52 victory over SUNYIT. He followed that with 26 points in a 97-81 victory
over Buffalo State. Barton's week concluded with a double-double -- 20 points
and 13 rebounds -- in a 68-57 Potsdam win over Fredonia State. For the week, Barton
connected on 59.5 percent of his field-goal attempts (25 of 42). He also averaged
3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He is averaging 16.7 points per game, fourth
best in the conference. In addition, he's second in the conference in rebounding
with a 9.1 per game average. This is the second time this season Barton has won
the weekly award given by the SUNYAC. His previous kudos came on Dec. 5.

6, 2006 The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
selected Brockport senior guard Ben Bellucci (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) as
its Mens Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 5. Bellucci
averaged 23.7 points in three conference wins as the Golden Eagles improved to
9-3 in the conference (13-8 overall). In addition to shooting 50 percent from
the field (20 of 40) and 47.1 percent from three-point range (8 of 17), Bellucci
connected on 23 of 29 free throws (79.3 percent), including 11 of 11 in a 30-point
game vs. Potsdam. The following night, he led the Golden Eagles to a victory over
Plattsburgh with 26 points and eight assists. It was the third time this season
Bellucci has won the weekly SUNYAC award. His previous awards were made on Nov.
28 and Jan. 23.
January 30, 2006 The State
University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Plattsburgh sophomore
guard Anthony Williams (Brooklyn) and Potsdam freshman guard Damon Brown (Staten
Island) as the Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for the week ending Jan.
29. Williams averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 steals
in a pair of Cardinal wins last week - 71-69 over Potsdam, and 69-67 over SUNYIT.
His 24 points vs. SUNYIT represented a collegiate high game. He previously attended
Morgan State University. Brown was deadly accurate from long range in two
games. He finished 9 of 10 from beyond the arc, including 6 of 6 in Potsdam's
narrow 69-71 road loss at Plattsburgh on Tuesday. Brown ended the week shooting
68 percent (15 of 22) while averaging 21 points. The Bears defeated Oneonta 82-63
on Friday to advance their record to 10-7 (5-3 SUNYAC).
January
23, 2006 The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected Brockport senior guard Ben Bellucci (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse)
as its Mens Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 22.
Bellucci averaged 31.3 points while shooting .652 percent (30 of 46) in three
games during the week, all against SUNYAC opponents resulting in Brockport wins.
After scoring 33 points vs. New Paltz and 34 points vs. Buffalo State, Bellucci
closed out his week by making 4 of 5 free throws in the closing seconds to finish
with 27 points and secure a 98-95 victory over SUNYIT. He also grabbed 10 rebounds
and was 3 of 3 from beyond the arc vs. SUNYIT. He was 8 of 10 on three-pointers
during the week and averaged 7.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists in the three games.
Bellucci was also named SUNYAC Player of the Week once before this season on Nov.
28, 2005.
January 16, 2006 The State University
of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Cortland senior forward
Frank Ranieri (Cicero) as its Mens Basketball Player of the Week for the
week ending Jan. 15. Ranieri averaged 18.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists
in three SUNYAC road wins last week. He shot 67 percent from the field (24 of
36), including 11 of 14 vs. Plattsburgh in a milestone game for him. With 24 points
vs. Plattsburgh, Ranieri became the 17th player in Cortland history to surpass
1,000 career points (he stands at 1,027). A graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse
High School, Ranieri leads the Red Dragons in scoring (14.7 points per game) and
playmaking (3.2 assists per game) and is shooting 59 percent from the field. The
Red Dragons have won 12 straight games to improve to 12-1, the program's best
record since the 1963-64 team was 16-1.

9, 2006 The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has
selected Fredonia State junior guard Taha Alassari (Brooklyn) as its Mens
Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 8. Alassari had his second
double-double of the season (18 points, 13 rebounds) in a 70-59 victory over Houghton.
He also had 30 points -- including 11 in overtime -- and six steals in a 81-73
win over Thiel. He was 22 of 32 from the foul line during the week. By averaging
24.0 points in the two games, Alassari took over the team scoring lead (13.3 ppg.).
He also leads the Blue Devils (5-6) with 6.5 rebounds per game. Alassari attended
Sweet Home High School in Amherst, N.Y.

12, 2005 The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected SUNYIT junior guard Chris Reaves (Syracuse) as its Mens Basketball
Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 11. Reaves averaged 20.3 points in
three games, including a high game of 26 points in an 84-66 non-conference win
over Paul Smith. In that game, he had nine steals and five assists. His other
top game was 24 points with five assists and four steals in a loss to unbeaten
Hamilton. SUNYIT heads into the semester break with a 4-3 record, including a
2-0 mark in the SUNYAC. December 5, 2005
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Potsdam
senior guard Edane Barton (Spring Valley) and Oswego junior guard Nick Perioli
(Liverpool/Liverpool) as its Mens Basketball Co-Players of the Week for
the week ending Dec. 4. Barton, who attended Colgate University before Potsdam,
led the Bears to a 3-0 week by averaging 15.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
He had double-doubles in two of the three games 20 points and 11 rebounds
in a 79-61 win over Clarkson, and 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Bears downed
New Paltz, 84-60. Barton shot 60 percent from the field (18 of 30) and 73 percent
from the line (11 of 15). Perioli also led his team to a 3-0 week as the Lakers
defeated non-conference foe Cazenovia, and SUNYAC opponents Geneseo and Brockport.
He played all 80 minutes in the two conference games and made just four turnovers
in the three games as the Laker point guard. For the week, Perioli averaged 16.7
points and was credited with 11 assists and 13 steals. He shot 58 percent from
the field (21 of 36) and 78 percent from the foul line (7 of 9). November
28, 2005 The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected Brockport senior guard Ben Bellucci (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse)
as its Mens Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 27.
Bellucci averaged 25.5 points and shot .621 percent in two games during the week.
He scored 29 points in the second half in a 102-90 loss to Hamilton. He finished
with 36 points on 13 of 18 shooting from the field. He also was 8 of 10 from the
line and had six rebounds and three assists. During a 77-74 victory over St. Lawrence,
Bellucci scored 15 points nine in the second half and grabbed seven
rebounds. November 21, 2005 The State
University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Buffalo State
senior James Williams (Brooklyn/William Grady) as the Player of the Week for the
week ending Nov. 20. Williams led the Bengals to a 2-1 start on the season, averaging
20.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game over the weekend. He scored 28 points in
the win over Marietta on 12-17 from the field and 4-4 from the charity stripe.
Williams chipped in with 22 points against Nazareth on his way to being named
the MVP of the Buffalo St. Coles Classic. He set a new school record of seven
blocks against the Golden Flyers. On Sunday, the Bengals took on Division I University
at Buffalo. Williams contributed 11 points, five rebounds and five blocks.
