PLATTSBURGH DEFEATS SUNYIT 94-73, IN THE

SUNAYC MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

 

UTICA, NY – Plattsburgh claimed the SUNYAC men’s basketball today defeating SUNYIT 94-73 in the finals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Basketball tournament at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. 

 

Kris Gibbs-Smith (Rochester/John Marshall) netted 19 points, grabbed eight boards and dished out eight assists in the title game on his way to earning MVP All Tournament honors. Brian Hatch (Enosburgh Falls, VT/Richford) scored a game high 21 points, shooting 8-10 from the floor and 5-6 from the line to lead the Cardinals. Anthony Williams (Brooklyn/Morgan State University) added 17 points, nine boards, Antwane Miller (Brooklyn/Paul Robeson) scored 14, and Travis Gorham (Bridgeport, CT/Post University) posted a double-double with 10 points, 14 rebounds for Plattsburgh.

 

Junior Chris LaBoard (Bronx/MVCC) posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards to lead the SUNYIT Wildcats. Chris Reaves (Syracuse/Herkimer CC) chipped in with 13 points, seven boards, and eight assists.

 

Plattsburgh improves to 18-10 and earns an automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Division III tournament.
