SUNYAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track Championships
to be held in Geneva
Geneseo's men and Cortland's women
will attempt to defend their SUNYAC crown
FREDONIA, N.Y. The 2002 State University
of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track and
Field Championships will be held on Saturday, February
16, 2002 at the Hobart College Field House, in Geneva,
N.Y.
Looking to defend their 2001 men's title will be the
Geneseo Knights, who won their first indoor track
championship in school history. Geneseo finished with
129.5 points last year and were followed by second place
finisher Cortland with 108.25 points. Fredonia finished
third with 89.25 points in 2001, and Oswego fourth with
75 points.
The 2001 SUNYAC trophy went to the Cortland women for
the fifth straight year and 12th since women's
track and field became a conference sport in the 1983-84
season . The Red Dragons finished with 216.5 points,
winning 12 events at last years championships. Geneseo
finished in second place with 126 points and Brockport
earned 70 points for a third place finish. Fourth place
went to Fredonia with 55 points.
Events will start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with the
women's weight throw and will conclude at 4:20 p.m. with
the 3,200m relay.
