MEN'S TRACK
Eric Thiess (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), Oneonta senior
Thiess was named the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships'
Most Outstanding Men's Track Athlete for his performance in the
meet this past Saturday. Thiess finished 8th in the 55m dash,
4th in the 200m dash, won the 400m race, and was a member of the
winning 4X400 relay team.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Melissa Scorse (Pittsford/Mendon), Brockport sophomore
Melissa Scorse was named the Most Outstanding Women's Track
Athlete at the Championship meet. Scorse won the 55m dash with
a time of 7.18 seconds, which is both a SUNYAC meet and conference
racord, and also an ECAC qualifying time and NCAA provisional
qualifying time. Scorse also won the 200m dash, with an ECAC qualifying
time of 25.99.
MEN'S FIELD
Mike DeVasto (Hastings/Hastings), Oneonta senior
Mike DeVasto was named the Most Outstanding Men's Field Athlete
at the SUNYAC Championship meet. He won the shot put event with
a distance of 14.38m, which is an ECAC qualifying distance. DeVasto
also placed third in the 35 lb. weight throw competition, with
a distance of 16.19m, also an ECAC qualifier.
WOMEN'S FIELD
Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington), Fredonia senior
Julia Hopson was named the Most Outstanding Women's Field
Athlete at the Championship meet. Hopson won the shot put with
an ECAC qualifying throw of 12.86m and also won the 20 lb. throw
with an ECAC and NCAA automatic qualifying, SUNYAC meet and conference
record of 17.62m.
February 23
MEN'S TRACK
Josh Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergon), Fredonia sophomore
Fredonia sophomore Josh Guarino finished fourth in the mile
run at Cornell's Deneault Invitational with a time of 4:28.26.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Amanda Elias (Belmont/Genesee Valley) Brockport sophomore
Brockport sophomore Amanda Elias took second in the 800 meters
in a time of 2:19.14 at Kent State and anchored the 4X400 relay
to a school-record time of 4:01.15.
MEN'S FIELD
Matt Hand (Belmont/Genesee Valley), Brockport senior
Brockport senior Matt Hand placed 10th in the weight throw
at the Kent State meet with an NCAA provisional toss of 16.69
meters and finished 39th in the shot put with a distance of 11.48
meters.
WOMEN'S FIELD
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool/Liverpool), Cortland senior
Cortland senior Sarah Kimball finished second in the pole
vault at the Deneault Invitational at Cornell with an NCAA provisional
height of 3.45 meters.
February 16
MEN'S TRACK
Eric Thiess (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), Oneonta senior
Thiess finished second in the 400 meters at the Boston University
Valentine Invitational with a SUNYAC record and NCAA automatic
qualifying time of 47.62 and anchoring the NCAA provisional qualifying
4X400 meter relay.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Melissa Scorse (Pittsford/Mendon), Brockport sophomore
Melissa Scorse broke her own school record in the 55-meter
dash at the Boston University Valentine Invitational with a time
of 7.25 in the prelims.
MEN'S FIELD
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster/Lancaster), Cortland freshman
Pericozzi won the pole vault at the Cornell Kane Invitational
with an NCAA provisional height of 4.80 meters and finishing third
in the long jump with a distance of 6.64 meters.
WOMEN'S FIELD
Shannon O'Keeffe (Boston/Springville-Griffith), Brockport senior
O'Keeffe captured the triple jump at the Cornell Kane Invitational
with an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 11.49 meters and
finishing third in the long jump with a distance of 5.28 meters.

MEN'S TRACK
Eric Thiess (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), Oneonta senior
Oneonta senior Eric Theiss set a school record in winning
the 200-meter dash at the Syracuse Invitational on Saturday with
a time of 21.87 and running an NCAA provisional qualifying time
of 6.47 in the 55-meter dash.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Liz Montgomery (Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), Geneseo
senior
Geneseo senior Liz Montgomery won the 5,000 meters at the
Syracuse University Invitational on Saturday with a time of 17:47,
just five seconds off an NCAA provisional qualifying time.
MEN'S FIELD
Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), Cortland senior
Cortland senior Jake Zanetti broke his own SUNYAC and school record
in the pole vault with his winning and NCAA provisional height
of 4.90 meters at the Syracuse Invitational.
WOMEN'S FIELD
Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington), Fredonia senior
Fredonia senior Julia Hopson placed 12th in the weight throw
with an NCAA provisional toss of 16.32 meters at the New Balance
Collegiate Invitational.

MEN'S TRACK
Tim Diegelman (Clarence/Clarence), Buffalo State senior
Buffalo State senior Tim Diegelman placed third at the pentathlon
at the Findlay Invitational with an NCAA provisional qualifying
score of 3,401. His finishes in the events were as follows: 6th
in 60m hurdles - 8.97, 4th in long jump - 6.54m, 3rd in shot put
- 11.42m, 4th in high jump - 1.90m, 4th in 1000m run - 3:00.76.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Melissa Scorse (Pittsford/Mendon), Brockport sophomore
Brockport sophomore Melissa Scorse claims the award for the
second week in a row after breaking the school record in the 60-meter
dash with an NCAA provisional time of 7.82 seconds, which was
good enough for second place in the event at the Colgate Invitational.
MEN'S FIELD
Dom Gonzalez (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury), Brockport senior
Brockport senior Dom Gonzalez finished in first place in the
weight throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 16.64
meters at the Colgate Class of 1932 invitational.
WOMEN'S FIELD
Shannon O'Keeffe (Boston/Springville-Griffith), Brockport senior
Brockport senior Shannon O'Keefe finished in second place
in the triple jump at the Colgate Invitational with an NCAA Provisional
jump of 11.27 meters. She also took third in the 60-meter dash
with a 9.56 finishing behind a pair of Division I sprinters.
January 26
MEN'S TRACK
Mike Heymann (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk), Plattsburgh sophomore
Plattsburgh sophomore Mike Heymann won first place in the
3000-meter run in an ECAC Championship-qualifying time of 8:42.82
at the St. Lawrence Invitational.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Melissa Scorse (PIttsford/Mendon), Brockport sophomore
Brockport sophomore Melissa Scorse finished first in the 55-meter
dash, breaking her school record twice and qualifying provisionally
for the NCAA Division III championships with times of 7.37 in
the prelims and 7.28 in finals. Scorse finished third in 200-meter
dash with 27.68 and ran the third leg of the winning 4x200 meter
relay to an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:49.54 at the St. Lawrence
Invitational.
MEN'S FIELD
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster/Lancaster), Cortland freshman
Pericozzi finished first in the pole vault at the Upstate
Challenge, hosted by Cornell with an NCAA Division III provisional
qualifying height of 4.68 meters (15' 4.25").
WOMEN'S FIELD
Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington), Fredonia senior
Fredonia senior Julia Hopson finished second in the weight
throw with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 16.75 meters
and second in the shot put with a throw of 12.60 meters at the
Mary Phillips Invitational at Fredonia. Hopson finished second
in both events to Olympic Trials competitor, Adriane Blewitt.
January 19
MEN'S TRACK
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk), Cortland junior
Bisceglia won the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.31 and
came in fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.25 at the
Syracuse University Welcome Back meet.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Laura Iafrati (Hilton/Hilton), Geneseo senior
Iafrati won the 3000 meter run at the RIT Tiger Invitational
with a time of 10:31.04.
MEN'S FIELD
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster/Lancaster), Cortland freshman
Pericozzi won the pole vault event at the Syracuse University
Welcome Back meet with a height of 4.6 meters.
WOMEN'S FIELD
Jackie Majka (Depew/Depew), Fredonia sophomore
Majka finished third in the long jump with a jump of 5.12
and fourth in the triple and high jump at the RIT Tiger Invitational.
December 15
MEN'S TRACK
Eric Thiess (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), Oneonta senior
Thiess set a new SUNYAC record this weekend in the 400 meter
run at the St. Lawrence University Holiday Relays. He won the
event with a time of 48.62 seconds. This provisionally qualified
him for the NCAA Championships.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Andi Palen (Gardiner/Wallkill), Cortland sophomore
Palen set a meet record at the St. Lawrence University meet in
the 5000 meter run with a time of 17:31.09.
MEN'S FIELD
Mike Chamberlain (Gates/Gates-Chili), Oswego freshman
Chamberlain won two individual events and finished second
in a third event at the St. Lawrence University Holiday Relays.
He won the triple jump with a leap of 13.25 meters, the high jump
with a height of 1.82 meters, and placed second in the long jump
with a leap of 6.18 meters.
WOMEN'S FIELD
Keri Laviska (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley), Cortland senior
Laviska won the pole vault event at the St. Lawrence meet
with a height of 3.35 meters.
December 8
MEN'S TRACK
Joe Keleher (New Fane/New Fane), Cortland junior
Keleher won the 60m hurdles event at the Cornell Relays with a
time of 8.24 seconds. He defeated 25 other competitors, including
ten Divison I athletes.
WOMEN'S TRACK
Andi Palen (Gardiner/Wallkill), Cortland sophomore
Palen finished second in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:19.15
at the Cornell relays.
MEN'S FIELD
Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs), Cortland senior
Zanetti finished second overall in the pole vault at 4.8m (15'9").
This provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Division III Championships.
WOMEN'S
FIELD
Shannon O'Keeffe (Boston/Springville-Griffith), Brockport senior
O'Keeffe finished second in the triple-jump, tops among Division
III contenders, with an 11.31 meter jump. This provisionally qualified
her for the NCAA Division III Championships.
