FREDONIA, NY – Beginning on Friday, March 2 and ending on Saturday, March 3 the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Ice Hockey Finals will take place at the Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburgh, New York.
Advancing to this weekend's final are the number one seed Plattsburgh Cardinals and the third seed Potsdam Bears. These two teams faced off in the SUNYAC finals last year with Plattsburgh coming out on top winning 6-0 and 6-2.
Plattsburgh defeated the fifth seed Geneseo in semifinal action by scores of 8-2 and 7-1. The Cardinals finished SUNYAC play with a 13-1-0 record and currently stand at 23-4-0 overall. Plattsburgh will look to defend their crown after winning the last four SUNYAC Ice Hockey Championships.
Making their second consecutive trip to the SUNYAC Finals are the Potsdam Bears. Potsdam defeated sixth seeded Cortland 4-0 and 7-5 in the Play-In round and went on to defeat second seed Oswego 4-3 and 7-2 in the Semifinals. Potsdam finished the SUNYAC regular season with an 8-3-3 record and are currently 19-6-3 overall.
