OSWEGO TOPS PRE-SEASON HOCKEY COACHES POLL

FREDONIA, NY – The coaches of the eight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Ice Hockey Teams
have picked Oswego to win the 2006-2007 SUNYAC Hockey Championship.  Oswego collected 6 first place votes and 48 total points.

The Lakers were last year’s regular season champions, with a 10-3-1 conference record, good for a one point edge over Geneseo.
As the top seed in the SUNYAC tournament, the Lakers fell to Plattsburgh in the semi-finals in two games, 6-3 and 5-2.  That marked the
second consecutive year that the top seeded Lakers fell to Plattsburgh in the semi-finals.

Placing 2nd in this year’s coaches poll is Plattsburgh, with 43 points and 2 first-place votes.  The Cardinals finished last season with
an 8-6 SUNYAC record, and ended their season with a loss in the finals to Geneseo.  Plattsburgh last won the SUNYAC title in the
2003-2004 season, the same year they went to the NCAA Final Four.

The two-time defending SUNYAC Champion Geneseo Blue Knights were picked third by the coaches with 35 points; a spot that
they are all too familiar with.  Each of the past two season’s they were picked 3rd in the pre-season polls, but ended up winning the SUNYAC
Title.  The Blue Knights defeated Plattsburgh the past two seasons to receive the NCAA automatic bid from the conference.
