OSWEGO CLAIMS SUNYAC ICE HOCKEY REGULAR SEASON TITLE
Quarterfinals start Friday and Saturday at Fredonia and Plattsburgh

FREDONIA, NY –Oswego clinched the 2006 regular season title Saturday night with a win over Brockport. The Lakers ended their regular season 10-3-1 with 21 points, just one point ahead of Geneseo. Oswego secures the No. 1 seed in this year’s State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Ice Hockey Championship. Geneseo secures the No. 2 seed. 

                Six teams qualify for the SUNYAC tournament with the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds earning automatic first round byes.  Quarterfinals will take place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17 & 18, the semifinals on Feb. 24 & 25 and the finals on March 3-4.  All games will be played at 7 p.m. on the campuses of the higher seeds.

                Third-seeded Fredonia will host sixth-seeded Potsdam and fourth-seeded Plattsburgh will host fifth-seeded Buffalo State in the first round to decide who will take on Oswego and Geneseo in the semifinals. In regular season play the Blue Devils tied the Bears 3-3 on Dec. 2, before defeating them 8-4 on Feb. 10.  The Cardinals split with the Bengals, losing 1-2 on Dec. 2 and winning 4-1 on Feb. 10.
