SUNYAC Coaches Pick Plattsburgh to Win 2005 Ice Hockey Championship
Defending champion Cardinals look to make it two in a row
FREDONIA, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
men's ice hockey coaches have picked Plattsburgh to win the conference championship.
The Cardinals received 48 points, with six first-place votes.
Last year, Plattsburgh beat Oswego to win their seventh title in eight years.
The Cardinals finished 23-5-3 overall, 12-0-2 in the SUNYAC and advanced to
the Division III NCAA Semifinals where they lost to St. Norbert, 4-1.
Oswego finished second in the coaches' poll, receiving two first-place votes
and 41 points. The Lakers will attempt to dethrone the defending champions
and reclaim the SUNYAC title that they won in 2003. Last year, Plattsburgh
ended Oswego's season in the SUNYAC Championship, winning 3-2 in overtime.
Geneseo was selected third with 38 points and Potsdam was fourth with 30 points.
