Doug Carr (Pickering, ONT/Pickering
Panthers), a junior defenseman from Pickering, Ontario, scored
a goal in a 2-1 victory over Oswego that clinched the SUNYAC regular-season
championship for the Cardinals. He scored the tying goal late in the
first period and played a major role on the defense that held the
Lakers to just a single goal. He added two assists in a 6-1 victory
over Cortland State Saturday that capped an undefeated conference
season (12-0-2) for the Cards. He assisted on the game-winner early
in the second period and added another assist on his team's fourth
goal, which came 10 minutes later in the period.
Chris Lee (MacTier, ONT/Parry Sound Shamrocks), a senior from
MacTier, Ontario, earns the Player of the Week honor for the third
time this season after leading his team to two crucial SUNYAC victories
over the weekend as the Bears moved from fourth place in the league
to second. He recorded two assists, both on power-play goals, in Potsdam's
6-5 win over Cortland on Friday. On Saturday, with key points on the
line, Lee led the Bears to a 6-2 win scoring two goals and adding
a pair of assists to complete a four-point game and a six-point weekend.
Lee leads his team and the conference in scoring with 48 points (17g,
31a).
Rookie of the Week

Kyle Bozoian (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles
West HS), a freshman forward from St. Charles, Missouri, scored
two goals and added an assist as the Blue Devils beat Brockport 6-1.
He came back the next day with a power-play goal with just 2:35 remaining
in the game to lift Fredonia over Geneseo 2-1 and secure a playoff
spot for the Devils. Fredonia can clinch the fifth seed Tuesday night
with a victory over Buffalo State and a Cortland loss to Oswego.
Goaltender of the Week

Rob Stanley (New York/Lowell Lock Monsters),
a freshman goaltender from New York City, made 29 saves for the Blue
Devils in the 6-1 win over Brockport on Friday. He allowed an early
first-period goal, but shut down the Golden Eagle offense the rest
of the way. On Saturday, Stanley made a fine save on a clean break-away
early, and stopped 11 shots in the third period, including several
over the final 2:35 while Geneseo skated with an extra attacker. In
all, he came up with 25 stops to hold off the Knights and lead Fredonia
to the 2-1 upset. For the weekend, Stanley picked up a pair of wins
stopping 56 of the 58 (.966) shots he faced.

Justin Corio (Ransomville/Ft. Erie Meteors)
scored the empty-net goal that iced the Knights' 4-2 win over
Potsdam on Friday night and netted both goals in a hard-fought 2-2
tie against sixth-ranked Plattsburgh on Saturday. Corio has tallied
12 times this season and added seven assists. The tie against Plattsburgh
kept the Knights in the hunt for an opening round bye in the SUNYAC
playoffs. Geneseo is #13 in the latest USCHO.com poll with a 13-5-4
record.
Don Patrick (Fulton/Texas Tornado) netted a power-play
goal in the Lakers' 4-1 win at Geneseo on Tuesday which vaulted Oswego
into a second-place tie with the Knights. Over the weekend, the junior
center scored a goal and added three assists for a four-point night
as Oswego rolled past Buffalo State 8-1. On Saturday, Patrick scored
once and set up two others in an 8-4 win over Fredonia. The victory,
coupled with Geneseo's tie with Plattsburgh, put the Lakers into second
place with a single weekend of league play remaining. For the week,
Patrick recorded
three goals and five assists in three games.
Co-Rookies of the Week

Fr., Goaltender, Whitesboro, NY
Dave Wilmert (Ada, MI/Youngstown Phantoms) assisted on the game-winning
goal against Cortland and added an insurance marker to put the Bengals
up 4-2 with less than four minutes to play in regulation. Wilmert's
goal at 16:57 was his first of the season. The win was an important
one for Bengals, as it propelled them two points ahead of Brockport
and within two points of Fredonia, heading into the final weekend
of SUNYAC play.
Jason Lojewski (Whitesboro/Whitesboro, HS), playing in the first
game of his career, registered 27 saves, including 15 in the third
period in a 2-1 overtime Cortland win over visiting Fredonia. Lojewski
came within 31 seconds of posting a shutout in the game. On Saturday
versus Buffalo State, he came off the bench in the third period and
stopped two of the three shots he faced in 9:07. For the two games,
Lojewski posted a 1-0-0 record with a 1.72 GAA and a .935 save percentage.
Goaltender of the Week
Tyson Gajda, Oswego
Sr., Goaltender, Westfield, MA
Tyson Gajda (Westfield, MA/Northwood Prep) was excellent in all
three outings last week, helping Oswego to three key wins and second
place in the league standings. Gajda stopped 32 of 33 shots in the
Lakers' 4-1 win at #13 Geneseo early in the week, stopped 27 of 28
shots as Oswego rolled past Buffalo State on Friday, and made 24 saves
in Saturday's 8-4 victory over Fredonia. Gajda ran his record as a
starter to 12-3-3 on the season, and he moved into second place on
the career win list at Oswego State with 45. This is the third
time this season, Gajda has received the honor.

Player of the Week

Chris Lee ( MacTier, ONT/Parry Sound Shamrocks)
was a key contributor in the Bears' 2-1 week with three goals and
six assists. Lee registered a goal and two assists in each of this
past weekend's two conference victories for the Bears. Potsdam defeated
Fredonia 4-3 and Buffalo State 7-4 to move to 6-3-1 in the SUNYAC
and into a second-place tie with Geneseo. Earlier in the week, Lee
also added a goal and two assists in an 8-7 overtime loss to Utica
College. He currently has 30 points (9g, 21a) on the season. This
is the second time Lee has received the award. He also shared the
honor with Plattsburgh's Dave Friel on Dec. 8.
Co-Rookies of the Week
Myles Palliser, Potsdam

Myles Palliser (Lake Cowichan, British Coumbia/Nepean Raiders)
had a great week for the Bears scoring three goals and adding seven
assists in three games for the Bears. Palliser registered two assists
against Fredonia, he scored a goal and had three assists against Buffalo
State, and scored twice and added two assists in the loss to Utica.
This season, Palliser has scored 12 goals and assisted on 18 others
and he leads the conference in freshmen scoring.
Matt Zeman, Fredonia
Fr., Forward, Rocky River, OH
Matt Zeman (Rocky River, OH/St. Ignatius), a freshman from Rocky
River, Ohio, has a goal and an assist in each of his last three games.
He leads the Blue Devils in scoring with 29 points (13g, 16a). Zeman
scored a goal against Potsdam which forged a 3-3 tie in an eventual
4-3 loss and tallied against Plattsburgh to pull the Blue Devils to
within a goal in the third period against the 4th-ranked Cardinals.
Zeman is just one point behind Palliser for the SUNYAC lead in freshmen
scoring.
Goaltender of the Week
Brett Walker, Geneseo

Brett Walker (Regina, Saskatchewan/Kindersley
Klippers) stopped 25 shots in a 6-4 win over Cortland Saturday.
The victory puts the Knights in a second-place tie in the conference.
Walker leads all SUNYAC goaltenders in winning percentage (.750) and
is second in save percentage (.903). He was also named SUNYAC Goaltender
of the Week on Nov. 10.

Ryan Venturelli (Bracebridge, ONT/Huntsville
Wildcats) held Plattsburgh, currently the SUNYAC's first-place
team and the #5 team in the nation, to just one goal as Potsdam earned
a 1-1 tie with the Cardinals. Venturelli made 30 saves in the game,
including a couple of stops in the overtime period to help the Bears
earn a key point and improve to 4-3-1 in conference play. This is
Venturelli's first Player of the Week award. The Bracebridge, Ontario
resident was named SUNYAC Goaltender of the Week on December 8th.
Rookie of the Week
Sean O'Connell, Buffalo State

Sean O'Connell (Buffalo/Capital Centre
Pride) had five points this past weekend for Buffalo State, helping
his team to two victories over Neumann College. In Friday's 6-3 win,
O'Connell recorded three assists on Buffalo State's first, third and
fifth goals. Saturday night, O'Connell had two goals for the Bengals.
The first came at the 12:56 mark of the first period and tied the
game at two. O'Connell went on to score the game-winner on the power-play
with 1:01 left on the scoreboard, lifting the Bengals to a 5-4 win
over the Knights.
Goaltender of the Week

Brett Leonhardt (Waterloo, ONT/Kitchener Dutchmen)
recorded a 5-2 win over Hamilton College in his first collegiate start
on Tuesday night. Leonhardt recorded 31 saves, including 13 in a first
period which was dominated by Hamilton. His play helped Oswego to
its first victory in the last five games. The defending conference
champion Lakers are currently 10-5-3 overall and get the second half
of their SUNYAC season underway this Friday at Geneseo.

Mitch Stevens (Forrest, Manitoba/Yorkton
Terriers) totaled seven points in a 2-0-1 week for Geneseo. The
first-year forward, scored two goals in a 4-4 tie at Hobart on Tuesday,
tallied one goal and an assist in a 7-3 home win over the Statesmen
on Friday, and capped the week with a goal and two helpers in a 7-4
win at Elmira on Saturday. He now leads his team with 19 points (7g,
12 a). The Ice Knights are red-hot with a 6-0-1 record in their last
seven games and look to continue their winning ways tonight as they
open the second-half of the SUNYAC season against Brockport.
Rookie of the Week

Kyle Bozoian (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles West HS) scored
twice against 11th-ranked RIT Friday night to help the Blue Devils
to a hard-fought 3-3 tie. Bozoian scored Fredonia's second goal to
give the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead before the Tigers stormed back with
three unanswered goals. Trailing in the third period, Bozoian scored
his second goal off a scramble at 7:19 to help preserve the tie. Bozoian
is currently fifth on the team in scoring with 13 points.
Goaltender of the Week
Andy Reynolds, Brockport

Andy Reynolds (Grand Rapids,
MI/Grand Rapids) made 46 saves in two wins over Framingham State
this past weekend to help the Golden Eagles up their record to 4-12.
He turned aside 18 shots on Friday in a tight 4-3 win over the Rams
and stopped 28 in Saturday's 5-2 win. Reynolds is 3-1 since joining
the team and his work in goal has propelled Brockport to three victories
in its last four games.

Jason Wilson (Johnston, RI/Northfield
Mt. Hermon) contributed five points on three goals and two assists
to help the Red Dragons to a 2-0-1 week. He registered a key assist
as Cortland claimed a 3-2 road win at Lebanon Valley on Tuesday. Over
the weekend, Wilson scored two goals and assisted on the game-winner
in a 9-5 home win over Hobart and scored Cortland's third goal in
a 3-3 tie at Hobart the following day. Wilson leads the Red Dragons
in points (23) and goals (16) and is currently tied for the most goals
in the nation.
Justin Corio (Ransomville/Ft. Erie Meteors) had a part in each
of the Blue Knights' goals Friday night in a 3-2 overtime win over
Wentworth. The senior forward scored twice, including the game-winner
two minutes into overtime, and recorded an assist. Corio also added
an assist in an 8-3 win over Johnson & Wales on Saturday that
brought the Knights' overall record to 8-4-1.
Rookie of the Week

Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Abitibi
Eskimos), a freshman goaltender from Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, went
1-1 between the pipes for the Bengals in his first weekend of play
at the collegiate level. Sheehan stopped 27 shots on goal in Friday's
4-3 loss to Plymouth State. He bounced back from the tough loss with
a 33-save performance in a 2-1 Buffalo State victory at Framingham
State. Sheehan's play helped the Bengals to their third win of the
season and second in their last three games.
Goaltender of the Week
Simon Maignan, Fredonia

Simon Maignan (Pully, Switzerland/French
National Team) stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced over the weekend
in a 1-1 road trip for the Blue Devils. Maignan made 16 saves while
giving up just one goal in Fredonia's 4-1 win at Framingham State.
The following day, Maignan entered Fredonia's game at Plymouth State
eight minutes into the contest and made 19 saves in 52 minutes, again
surrendering just one goal in a 3-1 loss. Maignan has posted a .909
save percentage and a 2.18 GAA in 10 games so far
this season.

Plattsburgh forward Dave Friel (Mississauga,
ONT/Streetsville Derbys) and Potsdam center Chris Lee (MacTier,
ONT/Parry Sound Shamrocks) have been named SUNYAC Co-Players of
the Week. Friel scored two goals in a 5-4 win over #3-ranked Oswego
Friday. His first goal tied the game at one after Plattsburgh had
fallen behind the Lakers 1-0 early and his second goal brought the
Cardinals back again, this time tying the game at two at the start
of a wild second period. On Saturday, Friel contributed a pair of
assists in a 10- 2 Cardinal win at Cortland. Friel's four-point weekend
helped Plattsburgh remain the only undefeated team in SUNYAC play.
Lee recorded a natural hat-trick in the Bears' 7-2 win over Cortland
on Friday, then came back on Saturday and registered a pair of power-play
assists in Potsdam's huge 3-2 win over Oswego. Lee's first assist
came on a Myles Palliser power-play tally that evened the game at
one in the second and his second assist was on Scott Craig's game-winner
mid-way through the third.
Rookie of the Week

Geneseo's Brett Bestwick (Nanaimo,
BC/Nanaimo Clippers) earns SUNYAC Rookie of the Week honors for
his performances in the Knights' two victories this past weekend.
Bestwick assisted on Nick Onody's game-winning goal at 8:53 of the
third and scored the insurance goal himself, as Geneseo held off Buffalo
State 5-3 on Friday. On Saturday, he scored his second of the weekend
with time ticking down in the third to lift the Knights to a 3-1 lead
against Fredonia. The Knights, who are tied for second in the conference,
went on to win the game 4-1.
Goaltender of the Week

Potsdam senior Ryan Venturelli (Bracebridge,

award for his exceptional play in two tough conference victories this
weekend. Venturelli made 40 saves in the Bears' 7-2 win over Cortland
on Friday night, and finished with a stellar 46-save performance in
a 3-2 win over #3-ranked Oswego on Saturday. Potsdam won the game
despite being out-shot 48-21, and Venturelli made 17 saves in the
third period alone.

Oswego forward Jocelyn Dubord (LaChenaie,
ONT/St. Jerome) earns the Player of the Week award for the second
week in a row. The sophomore from LaChenaie, Quebec, tallied two goals
and added an assist as the 3rd-ranked Lakers tied Williams College
5-5 on Friday night. The next day, Dubord assisted on both Oswego
State goals in a 2-1 win over 15th-ranked New England College. Dubord
finished the weekend with two goals and three assists for five points
in two games against two quality opponents.
Rookie of the Week

Cortland freshman forward Scott Lengyel
(Bridgeport, CT/Capital District Selects) scored six points on
two goals and four assists in three games for the Red Dragons to earn
Rookie of the Week honors. Lengyel collected two assists in a 5-4
OT loss to Hamilton, had an assist in a 6-5 loss to Amherst at the
McCabe Tournament, and recorded two goals and an assist in an 8-4
win over UMass Dartmouth in the consolation game of the McCabe Tournament.
Lengyel is currently fifth on the team in scoring with 12 points (4g,
8a), leads all freshmen on the team in scoring, and is tied for 13th
nationally in points per game for rookies (1.33).
Goaltender of the Week

Plattsburgh sophomore goaltender Craig
Neilsen (Markham, ONT/Ajax Axemen) earns the Goaltender of the
Week award following his performance against Norwich this weekend.
Neilsen made 33 saves, many of them spectacular, in a 2-0 shutout
victory over Norwich on Friday night in the first game of the PrimeLink
Great Northern Shootout in Plattsburgh. The defending national champion
Cadets, ranked number one in the country, had not been beaten since
February 21st. He also had 35 saves in the 5-2 loss to Middlebury
in the championship game on Saturday night.

Dubord (LaChenaie, QUE/St. Jerome) earns Player of the Week honors
for his one goal, two assist showing in a 5-3 victory over 8th-ranked
RIT on Saturday. The victory kept the third-ranked Lakers unbeaten
on the season at 7-0-2 and 3-0-1 in the SUNYAC standings.

Potsdam freshman Ryan McCarthy
(Brampton, ONT/Georgetown Raiders) takes home the Rookie of the
Week award after registering two goals and two assists Friday in an
8-5 win over Hobart. McCarthy's seven goals and four assists on the
season place him among the top freshman scorers in the nation.

Oswego senior goaltender Tyson Gajda (Wesfield,
MA/Northwood Prep) earns the Goaltender of the Week award for
the second week in a row. Gajda made 31 saves on 34 shots on Saturday
in the Lakers' lone game versus RIT. With the win, Gajda remains perfect
on the season with a record of 6-0-2.

Cortland junior forward Nate
Gagnon (Wilton/University of Maine) earns SUNYAC Player of the
Week honors for his four goal, two assist performance in the Red Dragons'
weekend sweep of Fredonia and Buffalo State. With the victories, the
Red Dragons improve to 4-0 in the conference for the first time in
school history. Gagnon had two goals, including the game-winner in
a 6-2 win Friday night at Fredonia and registered two goals and two
assists in a 7-4 win at Buffalo State Saturday. Gagnon leads the Red
Dragons in scoring with 13 points (8g, 5a). He is ranked second nationally
in power-play goals and ninth nationally in points per game for the
Red Dragons who are currently fifth nationally in scoring offense
and fourth in power-play percentage.

Plattsburgh freshman forward
Ryan Busby (Georgetown, ONT/Georgetown Raiders) earns the Rookie
of the Week award. Busby scored a natural hat-trick on Friday night
against Brockport in a 9-2 win. He also had an assist for four points
on the evening and scored a goal in a 9-2 win over Geneseo Saturday.
Plattsburgh is currently atop the SUNYAC standings at 5-0.
Goaltender of the Week
Tyson Gajda, Oswego
Sr., Goaltender, Westfield, MA
Oswego senior goaltender Tyson Gajda (Westfield,
MA/Northwood Prep) earns goaltender of the week accolades for
his efforts in the Lakers 2-0 weekend. Gajda made 32 saves in a 6-2
win over Buffalo State Friday and 28 saves in a 2-1 win over Fredonia
Saturday. He stopped 60 of 63 shots fired at him to keep the Lakers
unbeaten in conference play at 3-0-1. With the two wins earned this
weekend, Gajda moves into fourth place on the school's all-time win
list with 38.

Player of the Week

Senior forward Matt Donskov (Westerville,
OH/Wexford Raiders) was named SUNYAC Player of the Week for his
two goal, three assist performance in the Red Dragons' sweep of Brockport
and Geneseo this past weekend. After registering an assist against
Brockport on Friday night, Donskov tallied four points in the third
period in a 7-4 win over Geneseo on Saturday. His two assists came
on the game-tying and game-winning goals and his two goals were 20
seconds apart and short-handed to seal the win. Donskov is tied for
the team lead with eight points, has a team-high five assists, and
is ranked nationally in Division III in short-handed goals.
Goaltender of the Week
Brett Walker - Geneseo

Geneseo junior Brett Walker (Regina,
Saskatchewan/Kindersley Klippers) was named SUNYAC Goaltender
of the Week after playing over 103 minutes between the pipes in the
Blue Knights' 0-1-1 weekend. Walker kept Geneseo in the game Friday
against defending SUNYAC champion Oswego. He allowed just two goals
and made 47 saves in 65 minutes to help the Knights pull off a 2-2
tie. He also made 27 saves in just under 39 minutes of action in a
7-4 loss to Cortland on Saturday.

Freshman forward Scott Lengyel (Bridgeport,
CT/Capital District Selects) was named Rookie of the Week after
scoring his first collegiate goal and adding an assist against previously
unbeaten Geneseo. Lengyel is currently tied for the team lead in freshman
scoring with four points on a goal and three assists.

Player of the Week
Jim Gilbride - Fredonia
So., Forward, Parma, OH
Gilbride was named the Most Valuable Player of the Buffalo State
All-Sport Invitational. The sophomore tied a Fredonia record for goals
in a game with five in a 13-3 win over Johnson & Wales on Saturday,
and assisted the game-tying goal in a 2-2 tie against Hobart with
1:33 left in regulation on Friday.
Goaltender of the Week
Jeff Phelps - Geneseo
Sr., Goaltender, London, ONT
Phelps recorded his first career shutout making 23 saves in a 3-0
win over Lebanon Valley. The senior netminder has not allowed a goal
in 80 minutes this season as his Knights are off to a 3-0 start.
Rookie of the Week
Mike DeMarco - Buffalo State
Fr., Forward, Niagara Falls, NY
DeMarco tallied a goal and set a Buffalo State single-game record
with six assists in a 10-2 win over Johnson & Wales on Friday.
The freshman forward was named to the Buffalo State All-Sport Invitational
All-Tournament Team and currently leads the Bengals with nine points.
