FOUR SUNYAC ICE HOCKEY PLAYERS NAMED ALL-AMERICANS

FREDONIA, N.Y. - Four SUNYAC men's ice hockey players were recently named JOFA East Second-Team All-Americans at the Final Four in Norwich, VT. Oswego State junior forward Don Patrick (Fulton/Texas Tornado), Oswego senior defenseman Joe Carrabs (Brampton, ONT/Streetsville Derbys), Potsdam senior forward Chris Lee (MacTier, ONT/Parry Sound Shamrocks), and Plattsburgh State senior defenseman Chad Kemp (Glencoe, ONT/Strathroy Rockets) all were honored for their play during the 2003-04 season.

Patrick led the Lakers in scoring for the second consecutive season netting 16 goals and assisting on 34 others. The Fulton, NY junior played great hockey down the stretch for his squad as he also led them in point production in the playoffs (3-7-10). As a result, the Lakers, who were seeded third in the SUNYAC Tournament, were able to get to the SUNYAC Championship series. Oswego swept Potsdam in the semifinals, a team they had lost to twice during the regular season and took Plattsburgh to overtime in both games in the final round.

Carrabs earns the All-American honor for the second consecutive season. The Brampton, ONT senior played in all 31 games this season and missed only three out of 121 games in his career with the Lakers. In 2003-04, Carrabs was sixth in scoring on the team with 25 points (6g, 19a). Two of Carrbs tallies this season were game-winners for his club.

Lee had a stellar senior campaign for the Bears as he was named the SUNYAC Player of the Year. Lee also finished the regular season as the leading scorer not only in the conference, but all of Division III hockey. Lee registered 17 goals and 32 assists in 2003-04 and finished his illustrious career with 115 points (41g, 74a).

Kemp saved his best hockey for the Cards in the playoffs as he recorded three goals and three assists in the conference finals and quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament. Kemp scored a goal and added an assist in the Cards' 4-3 win in overtime over Oswego in game one of the SUNYAC finals, tallied a goal in Plattsburgh's conference championship-clinching 3-2 overtime win over Oswego, and scored a goal and assisted on two, including the game-winnner, in the Cards' 5-4 overtime win over Curry in the NCAAs. Kemp closed the season as the club's second leading scorer (13-18-31) and finished his career with 87 points (21-66-88).
