October 22, 2001

Stacey Russell (Rome/Rome Free Academy) of SUNY Cortland has been named the seventh SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for games through October 21. Russell, a junior forward, scored a goal in all three wins for the Red Dragons this past week. She had a goal and two assists in the 5-0 win over Geneseo to help lead Cortland to its second straight 5-0 SUNYAC record and title. Russell also scored a goal in Cortland's 2-1 upset win over the number one ranked College of New Jersey. The Red Dragons are 15-2 overall and are currently ranked second in division III. Russell has 10 goals and four assists on the season.

October 15, 2001
Ashley Ostrander (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) of SUNY Cortland has been named the sixth SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for games through October 14. Ostrander, a freshman forward, scored the game-winning goal with 1:02 left in the second overtime as nationally-ranked Cortland defeated second-ranked William Smith on the road, 2-1. Ostrander scored three goals in a 5-0 win over Brockport on Friday. The rookie forward now has eight goals with three assists for 19 points on the season.

October 8, 2001
Leslie Howlett (Penfield, NY/Penfield) of SUNY Geneseo has been named the fifth SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the week for games through October 7. The junior forward scored a goal in a 2-1 win vs. Oneonta and also scored in a 1-0 victory vs. Elmira. Howlett has nine goals on the season. This is the second time this season she has been named Player of the Week.

October 1, 2001
Julie Gentner (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South High) of SUNY Cortland has been named the fourth SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for games through September 30. This is Gentner's second honor this season for the award. The junior forward scored two goals and added an assist in a 6-0 win at Hamilton. She scored another goal, her 11th of the season, in a 3-1 win at Springfield. Springfield entered the game ranked eighth with a 9-2 mark. Gentner leads the Red Dragons in goals, assists (6) and points (28). Cortland is 10-0 and ranked third nationally in Division III.

September 24, 2001
Brittany Phillips (Watertown, NY/Watertown High) has been named the third SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for games through September 23. Phillips, a senior from Brockport, made 18 saves against #2 nationally-ranked William Smith in a 1-0 loss. She posted a 1-0 shutout win at Elmira, making eight saves.

Julie Gentner (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South)
, a junior forward from Cortland, has been named the second SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of he Week for games through September 16. Gentner scored two goals in a 6-1 victory at Hartwick. She has four goals and four assists on the season. The Red Dragons are 4-0 and tied for fourth nationally in the latest NCAA Division III poll.

Leslie Howlett (Penfield, NY/Penfield) is the first winner of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week, announced today. Howlett, a junior forward from SUNY Geneseo, scored four goals in Tuesday's 4-0 home victory over SUNY Brockport. The Penfield High School product was the star of the day with her tremendous performance in the key conference victory. Geneseo is 1-1 after a loss to William Smith on September 6.
