2005 SUNYAC Field Hockey
Players of the Week
October 31, 2005
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected Oneonta senior Kate Yarmowich (Warrensburg, NY/Warrensburg)
as its Player of the Week for the sport of field hockey. Yarmowich
registered three goals and one assist in a 1-1 week for the Red
Dragons. She scored two goals including the game-tying goal with
less than two minutes to go in a 5-4 overtime loss against Union.
She had the lone goal, which came on a penalty stroke, in a 1-0
win against Rochester.
Yarmowich now leads Oneonta in scoring with nine goals and five
assists for 23 points.
October 24, 2005
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected New Paltz sophomore Jacqueline Cisco (Wappingers
Falls, NY/John Jay) as its Player of the Week in the sport of
field hockey. Cisco led the Hawks to a 2-1 week with two goals
and two assists for the week. Her big game of the week came in
a 6-0 victory against Wells College where she scored one goal
and assisted on another. Her second goal of the week came in a
3-2 overtime win against Elmira.
October 17, 2005
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected Brockport senior Kate Bennett as its player of the
week in field hockey for the week ending October 16. Bennett led
Brockport to a 4-3 victory over Elmira last week in which she
scored two goals and added an assist. Her second goal was the
game winner coming with 1:42 left to play breaking a tied game
and giving Brockport the victory. Bennett currently has four goals
and three assists for the Golden Eagles, who are 6-7 overall and
3-2 in the SUNYAC.
October 10, 2005
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected New Paltz sophomore Ashley Smith as its player of
the week in field hockey for the week ending October 9. Smith
led New Paltz to a 2-0 record last week scoring one goal and assisting
on another. She had her assist in a 2-0 win against Ramapo while
her goal was the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime victory against
Oswego this past Saturday. Smith currently has eight goals and
one assist for the Hawks, who are 4-8 overall and 1-3 in the SUNYAC.
October 3, 2005
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected junior forward Kelli Johnson (Elma, NY/Iroquois)
of Cortland as the Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week
ending October 2. Johnson scored five goals in a 1-1 week for
the Red Dragons including both goals in a 3-2 overtime loss to
Springfield, who was ranked tenth in Div. III. Johnson has 11
goals and three assists for Cortland, who is 8-1 and ranked in
the top five nationally in Div. III. She is currently tied for
third on the all-time career scoring list with 120 points.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced that Geneseo freshman Sarah Doster (Getzville, NY/Williamsville
North) has been selected as the Field Hockey Player of the Week
for the week ending Sept. 25. Doster, who leads the Knights in
scoring with six goals and three assists, helped lead the team
to a 2-1 record last week that included conference wins against
Brockport and New Paltz. Her big game of the week came against
New Paltz where she scored one goal and added three assists in
a 4-0 victory. The Knights are currently 5-4 overall and 3-0 in
SUNYAC play.
September 19, 2005
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected Brockport sophomore Michelle Zelich (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown)
as its Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Sept.
18. Zelich led the Golden Eagle field hockey team to a pair of
wins last week against Ithaca and New Paltz. In a 3-2 victory
over Ithaca last Wednesday she made 12 saves and followed that
up with 15 saves in a 1-0 shutout of New Paltz on Saturday that
went into double overtime.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has selected Oneonta State senior Rachael Decker (Sherrill, NY/VVS)
as its Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Sept.
11. Decker led the Red Dragon field hockey team to a pair of wins
this past weekend against Manhattanville and Muhlenberg as Oneonta
moved to 3-1 overall on the season. In a 2-1 victory over Manhattanville
on Saturday she had an assist on the game-winning goal. On Sunday
she netted a pair of goals in a 3-0 win against Muhlenberg. Through
the first four games of the season Decker is the team's leading
scorer with two goals and one assist.

SUNY Cortland senior forward Becky Osier (Morrisville, NY/Morrisville)has
been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference(SUNYAC)
Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 4.Osier
led the Red Dragons to a 2-1 week with victories against Nazareth
and Johns Hopkins University. In the pair of wins she tallied
three goals while assisting on two others. The two wins for Cortland
extended its home winning streak to 13 games dating back to the
2003 season. Osier, who played as a defender in her first two
seasons, now has 52 career points.
