The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Julie Gentner (Williamsville/Williamsville South)
as the SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for week ending November
3, 2002. Gentner recorded a hat trick against St. Lawrence to pace
the Red Dragons to a 4-0 victory. With her three goals, she broke
Cortland's single-season scoring record of 61 points set in 1992.
The senior forward leads her team with 25 goals and is second in career
scoring with 161 points. She is also Cortland's career assist leader
and has 12 assists on the season. The Red Dragons as 14-3 and ranked
fifth in the nation.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Julie Gentner (Williamsville/Williamsville South)
as the SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for week ending Oct.
27, 2002. Gentner scored five goals in two games to lead the fourth-ranked
Red Dragons to a 2-0 week with wins over Geneseo and Wilkes. In the
5-1 win over Geneseo, she had two goals and one assist, making her
Cortland's career assist leader with 37. The win also sealed Cortland's
undefeated season in conference play and clinched the SUNYAC title.
The senior forward leads the Red Dragons with 22 goals and her 56
points are the most in a season since 1994. She also ranks second
in career scoring with 155 points.
October 21, 2002
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Ashley Ostrander (Whitney Point/Whitney Point)
as the SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for week ending Oct.
20, 2002. Ostrander scored three goals and had one assist to lead
the Red Dragons to a 6-1 win over SUNYAC opponent, Brockport on Friday.
The sophomore forward is second in scoring for the Red Dragons with
29 points. She also leads the team with 13 assists and has the fifth
highest single-season total in school history. The nationally-ranked
Red Dragons are now 11-2, 4-0.
October 14, 2002
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Julie Gentner (Williamsville/Williamsville South)
as the SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for week ending Oct.
13, 2002. Gentner, scored three goals for the Red Dragons as they
defeated Houghton College 4-2 in a non-conference game Wednesday.
The senior forward currently leads Cortland in scoring with 17 goals.
She is also Cortland's second-leading career scorer with 141 points.
Cortland improves to 10-1, 3-0 SUNYAC and is ranked 3rd in the nation
among Division III institutions.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Stacey Russell (Rome/Rome Free Academy) as the
SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for week ending Oct. 6, 2002.Russell,
a senior forward, scored three goals, including the game-winner, as
the Red Dragons defeated Ithaca 9-1. She added another two goals in
an 8-0 win over Hamilton. This past week, she moved into 10th place
in career scoring at Cortland with 70 points. On the season, Russell
has nine goals and four assists, putting her in a tie for second place
on the team with 22 points. Cortland is currently 9-1, 3-0 and ranked
third in the nation among Division III schools.
September 30, 2002
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Lauren Spennacchio (Fairport/Fairport) as the
SUNYAC Field Hockey Player of the Week for week ending Sept. 29, 2002.
Spennacchio scored both game-winning goals for the Lady Knights in
a 2-0 week as they defeated Nazareth 1-0 and Ithaca 1-0 in overtime.
The win over Ithaca marks Geneseo's first-ever against the Bombers
in the program's history. The freshman forward has seven points on
the season with three goals and one assist. Geneseo improves their
record to 5-2, 1-0 SUNYAC.
September 23, 2002
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
has announced Meg New (Canastota, NY/Canastota) as the SUNYAC
Field Hockey Player of the Week for period ending Sept. 22, 2002.
New, a senior forward, scored the game-tying goal against Hamilton
forcing the game into overtime where it remained 1-1 through both
15 minute periods. In penalty strokes, New converted the clinching
stroke as the Knights won the strokes by a 4-3 score. She ranks first
on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist, leading the
team with seven points on the season. Geneseo is currently 3-2, 1-0
SUNYAC.
September 16, 2002
Julie Gentner (Williamsville/Williamsville South), a senior forward,
has been named the Player of the Week for period ending Sept. 15,
2002. Gentner scored both game-winning goals in games played this
week as Cortland defeated the University of Rochester 5-2 and Oneonta
5-1. She is currently ranked second on the team in scoring with 10
points and has surpassed 100 career points this season. She also ranks
fifth in career scoring for the Red Dragons. Cortland is currently
3-0 overall and 1-0 in SUNYAC play.
September 9, 2002
Brooke Thomson (Bennington, VT/Hoosick Falls), a senior midfielder
from Oneonta, has been named Player of the Week for week ending September
8, 2002. Thomson contributed two goals in the team's 6-2 win over
Utica College and scored the only two goals in their 2-6 loss to St.
Lawrence. She currently leads the Red Dragons (1-2) in scoring with
four goals on the season.
