MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Lee Berube, Geneseo Sophomore (Putnam Station/Ticonderoga)

Berube won the individual title at the SUNYAC Championships with a time of 25:12 over eight kilometers to lead the nationally fourth-ranked Geneseo men to the SUNYAC team title at Cortland on Saturday. Berube earned first team All-SUNYAC and a spot in the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Sandra Goettelman, Geneseo Senior (Rochester/Spencerport)

Goettelman won the individual title at the SUNYAC Championships with a time of 22:55 over six kilometers to lead the nationally ninth-ranked Geneseo women to their tenth consecutive SUNYAC team title at Cortland on Saturday. Goettelman earned first team All-SUNYAC and a spot in the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Mike Heymann, Plattsburgh Junior (Tully/Tully)

Heymann finished 1:14 ahead of his closest competition to take first place at the Saratoga Invitational hosted by RPI. He completed the race in 24:17.69 and helped the Cardinals grab a second-place finish behind Keene State. Heymann's closest SUNYAC rival placed fifth, 1:39 behind him.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Stefanie Braun, Plattsburgh Sophomore (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills)

Braun finished seventh at the Saratoga Invitational hosted by RPI with a personal-best time of 18:25.12. She completed the race just 19 seconds behind her All-American teammate, Jenny Schaffhouser, and 28 seconds ahead of her closest SUNYAC opponent.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Mike Heymann, Plattsburgh Junior (Tully/Tully)

Heymann won the 43rd annual University of Albany Cross Country Invitational in a time of 24:32.6, seven seconds ahead of his closest opponent. He helped Plattsburgh finish fifth in a field largely dominated by NCAA Division I competition...which was the highest placing Division III team at the meet.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Sandra Goettelman, Geneseo Senior (Rochester/Spencerport)

Goettelman finished second with a time of 18:16 over five kilometers at the Rochester Invitational to lead eighth-ranked Geneseo to the team championship.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Kyle O'Brien, Cortland Senior (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury)

O'Brien finished second overall, and was the top Division III finisher, out of 56 runners at Cortland's Jack Daniels Invitational. He logged a time of 25:58.92 over the 8,000-meter course, 16 seconds ahead of the next best Division III runner.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Alyson Dalton, Cortland Sophomore (Sherrill/V-V-S)

Dalton finished first out of 41 runners at Cortland's Jack Daniels Invitational with a time of 23:43.12 over 6,000 meters. She helped Cortland finish first out of four teams in the race, ahead of Oneonta, Buffalo State and Fredonia.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Mike Heymann, Plattsburgh Junior (Tully/Tully)

Finished 24th in a field dominated by NCAA Division I opponents at the 36th annual Brooks-Paul Short Run Gold Division, hosted by Lehigh, leading the Cardinals with a time of 24:12 ... Was :27 and 33 places ahead of closest SUNYAC rival, Seth DuBois from Cortland ... The Cardinals finished in 37th place out of a field of 42 teams.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Alyson Dalton, Cortland Sophomore (Sherrill/V-V-S)

Alyson finished 26th out of 337 total runners in the Brown Division of the Lehigh University Paul Short Run. She posted a time of 22:27 on the 6,000-meter course. Cortland finished 16th out of 39 teams.

September 28
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Tim Chichester, Geneseo Senior (Mt. Morris/Mt. Morris)

Chichester finished third with a time of 32:16 over the 10-kilometer course to lead Geneseo to the team title at the Western International Invitational in London, Ontario, Canada. The Knights claimed the title over several of the top Canadian Universities in Ontario.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Mike Heymann, Plattsburgh Junior (Tully/Tully)
Heymann placed second in 18:30 at the Oneonta State Airfield Invitational just behind 2008 NCAA Division III Cross Country National Champion Peter Kosgei from Hamilton. He helped his team clinch a first-place finish with 33 points, 38 points ahead of runner-up and host Oneonta.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Jenny Schaffhouser, Plattsburgh Senior (Richford/Newark Valley)

Schaffhouser won the Oneonta State Airfield Invitational after finishing 33 seconds ahead of her closest opponent, teammate Stefanie Braun. She finished the race in 16:29, a meet record that broke the previous mark of 16:39 set in 2005 by Charity Learn from Mansfield. She helped her team clinch a first-place finish 13 points ahead of host & runner-up Oneonta.

September 14
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Kyle O'Brien, Cortland Senior (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury)
O'Brien finished first out of 78 runners at the Oswego State Invitational. He completed the 6,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 33 seconds. Cortland, ranked third nationally in Div. III and the defending NCAA Div. III champion, took the top four individual spots at the race and finished first out of seven teams.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Brittany Streeter, Brockport Junior (Oneida/Oneida)

Streeter finished second overall with a career-best time of 18:56 in the 5K race. She finished 6th last year on the same course and shaved 1:34 off her time. The 18:56 is tied for the 8th best 5K time in Brockport history. Brockport finished first in the invitational.


September 8
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Joe Gentsch, New Paltz Junior (Staten Island/Curtis)
Gentsch won the first race of the year at Mt. St. Mary College in the 5k run with a time of 16:17 to help the Hawks to first place in the dual meet. In the Vassar Invitational, Gentsch took the top spot in the race with a time of 20:25 in the 6k run and helped lead the Hawks to a second place finish.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Jenny Schaffhouser, Plattsburgh Senior (Richford/Newark Valley)

Schaffhouser set a course record to help the Plattsburgh State women's cross country team to a second place finish behind No. 16-ranked Saint Lawrence in a battle of nationally ranked squads at Saturday's Cardinal Classic. She captured individual honors with a winning time of 17:53.2 to shatter the Rugar Woods 5-kilometer course record previously held by former teammate Toni Wiszowaty, who set the benchmark of 18:27 in 2007. She was 27 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
