Geneseo Claims Fourth SUNYAC Cross
Country Title In a Row
Knights finish perfect 1-5
FREDONIA,
NY – The Geneseo Knights could not
have performed any better Saturday at the SUNYAC Cross Country Championships
at Fortin Park in Oneonta, NY. The first five runners to cross the finish
line were from Geneseo as the Knights ended the day with a perfect 15 points.
Geneseo junior Ted Turner (Wappingers Falls/John Jay) claimed the 2003 SUNYAC Championship
finishing the race in 25:35.5. He was followed by teammates Jeff Beck (Fairport/Fairport), Matt Young (Geneseo/Geneseo), Jason Casey (Binghmaton/Susquehanna
Valley), and Ross Huncovic (Endwell/Maine-Endwell).
Plattsburgh finished second
with 68 points and two top-ten finishers. Sam
Pitts (Glenmont/Ravena) placed 6th
and Matt DeShane
was 7th for the Cardinals at the meet.
Brockport took third as a
team with 100 points. Scott Austin
(Brockport/Caledonia) was the Golden Eagles’ top performer placing 8th
while James Davenport (Lansing/Lansing)
came in 14th.
Coach of the Year honors
went to Mike Woods of Geneseo. He has won the award three of the last four years.
