SUNYAC Baseball Players of the Week
Cote' hit .625 (15-for-24) with four doubles, a triple, a homerun, 13 RBI, 10 runs and a slugging percentage of 1.000 in the Hawks' 2-3-1 week. In an 11-8 victory over Mount St. Mary, Cote' went 4-for-4 and hit for the cycle with four runs and five RBI. In an 11-2 win over SUNYIT, he went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored. Cote' leads the team with a .467 average, three triples and a .787 slugging percentage. Pitcher of the Week Mahoney gave up just one earned run in 14 innings
in two outings this past week for the Golden Eagles. Mahoney gave
up two hits and struck out seven in a 10-2 win over Clarkson and
shutout Pitt-Bradford 7-0 while surrendering just five hits and
striking out two. The Golden Eagles (21-11) have clinched the
second seed in this weekend's SUNYAC Tournament and will face
Oneonta on Friday. Johnson went 12-for-20 (.600) in the Golden Eagles' 5-2 week. Johnson went 4-for-4 in a 12-5 game one victory over Fredonia and 2-for-3 in the 24-6 win in the nightcap. He recorded six doubles this week which broke the Brockport single-season doubles record (11 in 1978) with 15. Johnson sits in second in career doubles with 30. He is now batting .404 and has now hit safely in nine of his last 11 games. Pitcher of the Week Burnett was 2-0 with 11 strikeouts on the hill for
the Red Dragons who finished 5-2 on the week. Burnett had a 1.00
ERA in 18 innings pitched while surrendering just two earned runs
and ten hits. In a tough 1-0 win over Plattsburgh, a game in which
Burnett gave up three hits in nine innings and fanned seven, Cortland
clinched the SUNYAC regular-season title. On the season, Burnett
is 6-0 with a 1.59 ERA.
Cortellini threw two complete games last week for
the Lakers in leading them to a 3-3 record overall. On Tuesday
he allowed six hits and struck out three in a 9-0 shutout of Oneonta
State. This past weekend, he struck out nine and allowed three
runs, two earned, in a 4-3 win against the Blue Devils. In five games, Cote' hit .333 with two homeruns and seven RBI to lead the Hawks. Cote' went 3-for-3 with a pair of two-run homers in a 6-3 win over Fredonia and went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs in an 8-6 come-from-behind victory over the Blue Devils in game two. Cote' also scored four runs during the week and had a .733 slugging percentage. Pitcher of the Week Miller allowed just one hit while striking out 10 in seven innings pitched in a 4-0 win vs. SUNYIT on Saturday. The only hit the Wildcats could muster off of Miller, was a bunt single with two outs in the third inning. Miller is 2-1 with a 1.50 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 24 innings of work this season. Cortland is 8-8 (4-0 SUNYAC) and is currently ranked 8th in Div. III. Kahan went 19-for-42 (.452) last week in Florida
for the Cardinals (7-7). He scored 16 runs and was 12-for-12 in
stolen bases. He had 10 RBI, three doubles, a triple and two homeruns.
Kahan also had a .714 slugging percentage and a .478 on-base percentage.
Pitcher of the Week Ebert went 2-0 with one save on the mound this past week for the Wildcats in Myrtle Beach, SC. Ebert worked 12.1 innings, allowing two runs and five hits in three appearances. He started and pitched a complete game and his ERA is 1.33. The Wildcats return home with a 4-1 record.
