April 29, 2002

Oswego senior pitcher Jed Musch (Camden, NY/Camden) has been selected as the SUNYAC Player of the Week in baseball for the week ending April 28.

In two conference wins last week he threw a complete game shutout in a 5-0 win against Utica/Rome notching nine strikeouts. He followed that performance with seven scoreless innings and eight strikeouts in the Lakers 14-4 win over Fredonia. Overall, Musch now has pitched 25 straight innings without allowing a run.

April 22, 2002

Brockport sophomore Rob Gladwell (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) has been chosen as the Player of the Week for SUNYAC baseball. In nine games last week in which the Golden Eagles went 6-3, he hit .452 with 10 RBIs, two doubles and three home runs. He also hit safely in eight of the nine games that he played in and had a slugging percentage of .677.

April 15, 2002

The SUNYAC Conference has selected Cortland sophomore Steve Wanamaker as the Player of the Week in baseball. The Valley Cottage, N.Y. (Nyack H.S.) native had a week that makes some careers as he led the Red Dragons to a 3-0 week.

This past Sunday he cracked three home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in eight runs in a 16-1 victory over SUNYAC rival Oswego. For the week he hit .500 (7-14) with five home runs and 12 runs batted in.

April 8, 2002

Oneonta State center fielder Brendan Helsin (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) has been selected as the SUNYAC Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 7.

The senior led the Red Dragons to a 4-1 week including a 3-1 weekend in conference play. For the week he hit .409 with 10 runs scored, eight runs batted in while stealing five bases. He also totaled 13 bases for a .591 slugging percentage.

April 1, 2002

Junior second baseman Ben Albright of Cortland has been selected as the SUNYAC player of the week in baseball for the week ending March 31.

The Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (Arlington H.S.) native had an outstanding week in helping lead the Red Dragons to a 4-0 week. His totals over the four games were a .600 batting average with two home runs, three doubles and seven RBIs. The highlight for Albright came against #12 Rensselaer where he went 3-5 with two home runs, a double and five runs batted in.

March 18, 2002

FREDONIA, N.Y. - Utica/Rome senior Anthony Durso (Utica/Proctor) has been selected as the SUNYAC baseball Player of the Week for the week ending March 17.

Durso returned from Myrtle Beach, S.C. with a .571 batting average and an .897 slugging percentage as the Wilcats completed a 2-7 record. He also tied the school record for home runs in a season in only the first nine games.

Durso has started all nine games, is 20-35 from the plate, and pitched five innings for Utica/Rome while down south.
