FREDONIA, NY – The Cortland State Red Dragons have won their fifth straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SNYAC) Baseball Title after defeating Oswego 16-5 this afternoon in the championship game.
Cortland reached the finals by defeating fourth seed Utica/Rome 17-2 on Friday and third seed Oswego 17-9 on Saturday. Third seed Oswego upset number two seed New Paltz 10-2 on Friday and again 12-6 on Saturday to reach this afternoon's finals.
With today's SUNYAC Championship win, Cortland received an automatic berth to the Division III NCAA tournament.

SUNYAC Baseball Championship Box Scores and Results
FREDONIA, NY – The 2001 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Baseball Championships are set to begin Friday, May 4 and run through Sunday May 6. Cortland earned the right to host the four-team tournament after finishing 11-1 in the conference. The Red Dragons' have won four consecutive SUNYAC titles and nine in the last 10 years.
New Paltz, Oswego and Utica/Rome will also make the trip to Cortland for the SUNYAC Championship Tournament. New Paltz finished second in the conference at 8-4 and earned the second seed in the tournament. The Hawks have made SUNYAC post-season appearances in the past but they will look to win their first SUNYAC title this weekend.
Oswego finished the regular season with a 7-5 record, good enough for the third seed. The Lakers last won the SUNYAC Baseball Championship in 1996. The fourth and final spot in the four-team tournament went to Utica/Rome. They finished 4-7-1 in the conference and will be making their first ever trip to the SUNYAC Tournament.
The winner of the SUNYAC crown will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships.
